Nooit een saai moment in huis Spoor. Waarvan wederom akte.

A few years ago, I, like many others, had the “Carrie craze”: I had to score such a lovely name necklace in gold. When I casually mentioned this to my mother, it turned out she had made such a necklace 20 years (!) ago, but never gave it... I wore this slightly ordinary Carolien necklace with great pride. But yes, you could see the Thailand quality wearing off at some point, and it started to discolor. When I saw a beautiful name bar hanging around Anna Drijver's neck on set, I had to know where it came from. The twin sisters Vedder & Vedder are the brilliant designers of these name bars, but they also make name necklaces, bracelets, and bars with coordinates (for example, where you and your loved one first met). Of course, there had to be a twist, so I had Jon write my name for the ‘bar’: I will never take this off again...

Over-the-knee boots: every year a new variant pops up that is the must-have of that season. Knee high, thigh high, the ‘Roman’ variant (which I initially found awful, but a year later they were on my wishlist): I've had everything in my closet. However, many variants had a heel of at least 8 centimeters, which I really can't ‘flaneren’ on carelessly all day anymore. So it was time to search for flat yet elegant over-the-knee boots. Preferably in a color other than black. To my great surprise, I found these grey boots online at Van den Assem, where I had never shopped before. Tip: the place to be if you're looking for beautiful flat shoes.

My passion for fashion started early: my very first part-time job was at Gaudi, a highly regarded clothing store in The Hague. In the first weeks, I went completely crazy: all those new collections coming in, and I kept seeing items that I had to have. My entire salary was immediately spent within those walls. Now, 13 years later, I consistently return for their amazing Sendra boots collection (the largest in Europe!) and their collections from Zoe Karssen, Goosecraft, and Mulberry. So if you're planning a day in The Hague soon: a pit stop at this store is a must. And secretly also fun to see where I once started, right?

For the past three press presentations of Sissy-Boy, we were there with our theater collective Bouillabaisse: around each new theme, we come up with a few ‘acts’ to bring the world of Sissy-Boy to life. Every time it's a party to hear what the theme of this season will be. Last week they presented the new SS16 collection with the theme “Martial Arts Soft Origami” and we couldn't wait to be part of that world! As four geishas, we navigated through the beautiful Sissy-Boy settings, performed a tea ceremony, and laughed like shy Japanese girls. I can't wait to see what the theme for AW16 will be!

Every time a new restaurant opens in Amsterdam, Jon and I can hardly wait to test it out. Last week it was the turn of the new restaurant Jansz and the accompanying hotel Pulitzer. We started with a tour of the beautifully renovated suites: each suite has its own entrance, theme, and special features. I immediately fell in love with the “Art Collectors Suite” with beautiful art and a giant golden hand as a design chair. The restaurant was just as surprising: the interior looked like how I would want to decorate my new home (read: just moved a year ago, so never ever within now and five years) and the shared dining concept fits perfectly with Jon and my we-share-everything mentality. We had already decided that we need to hang out as ’tourists in our own city’ more often, so a weekend at Pulitzer plus Jansz fits perfectly within this intention, don't you think?!
