CAROLIEN’S FAST LANE LIFE
Adult or not, we still put out our shoe every year as soon as the good saint is back in the country. It has happened that the Saint only filled Jon's shoe and forgot mine, but after a very sad photo of me looking into my empty shoe, the message was clear that this should not happen again... Because Jon is incredibly busy preparing for his second feature film, I knew he would have a fit if I reported on Saturday morning that we could really put out our shoe that evening. So that day I played Sinterklaas for two and bought a much too large but oh so necessary present for our shoes in this cold weather. A ‘See yonder comes the steamship’ on the guitar and a night later we found these lovely Warmbat Australia slippers. When I heard my husband singing “Thank you Sinterklaasje” from downstairs in the sweetest way, my day couldn't get any better: how wonderful it is to be a child again every now and then.
A few weeks ago, I received an email asking if I wanted to become an ‘ALIX KIND OF GIRL’. I felt honored right away, but secretly had no idea what this entailed... Until I googled the brand ALIX The Label: a cool new fashion brand with high-quality items for every mood. Just like I am a chameleon in terms of style, ALIX also has a collection for both casual and dressed-up moments. Besides a lovely interview about ‘style, love and passion’, I got to personalize two looks from the collection with my own style and this is the result! If you look at the other ALIX KIND OF GIRLS on the site, I am secretly quite proud to be among them...
Whenever I am asked for a new role if I want to cut or color my hair, I always enthusiastically shout: yes! Funny enough, I wasn't so adventurous about my hairstyle when I was younger: until I was thirteen, I had hair down to my butt and before the series ‘Van God Los’ at 22, a paintbrush had never been near my hair. But for a role, I find it great to transform as much as possible and of course, a different appearance helps with that. So when I was called last week by the makeup artist of a new film with the question if my hair could be cut short and colored strawberry blonde for the role, I didn't have to think long. Secretly, I always wanted to dye my hair that color once and now it was for a good reason! At an event yesterday, a few people didn't even recognize me, so that transformation has certainly worked well!
For two years now, Janine from Prêt à Pregnant has been organizing a beautiful charity dinner called the Tripp Trapp Dinner. As the godmother of little Sammy-Rose, I felt honored to be present among Marly and all the other power moms on this special evening. And it certainly was: in a beautifully styled hall at restaurant De Kas, we were welcomed by Marvy Rieder who took on the presentation. The Foundation Assistance Dog and the Emma Children's Hospital were in the spotlight that evening and for these wonderful organizations, we raised no less than 16,000 euros! And as a huge dessert, Giovanca delighted us with a fantastic performance. A big thumbs up and admiration for organizing yet another beautiful, loving evening, Janine!
Every time I light a Jo Malone scented candle at home, I feel like I'm back in la bella Italia. I hoped that our wedding guests would also have a ’trip down memory lane’ when smelling such a delicious scented candle. And successfully! My friend Kiki showers every morning while enjoying the Lime Basil & Mandarin Home Candle and Sanne can't live without the Tomato Leaf scented candle. To get into the Christmas spirit, Jo Malone organized a very exclusive Christmas Dinner yesterday to present the new Christmas scents and packaging. The Orange Bitters candle immediately makes you long for a lovely winter evening by the fireplace with a board game. But my absolute favorite for this winter is the Pine & Eucalyptus, or in other words: a completely ecstatic pine tree in a jar.
