Carolien's fast lane life
Yes, another fresh weekday diary from our Carolien. Because you know: she never sits still…
Last weekend it finally happened: my dearest mother got married at the most beautiful wedding location in Amsterdam: Sofitel The Grand. Weeks in advance, we went to LaDress to have a beautiful white lace dress made to measure. My sister and I were such fans of the beautiful dresses that we immediately got ourselves a lace dress for the special day. How cool is it to choose a wedding dress for yourself and one for your mother in the same month? On the big day, I rode my bike past the new LaDress store on Runstraat in the morning to pick up our jewels and then, like giggling girls, we got ready in the bridal suite. The three of us came down the large, stately staircase where my stepfather was waiting for her. The whole day was truly a fairy tale! Now let's hope our wedding will match this...
You can't make me happier than by delivering packages. Every time the doorbell rings, I sprint to the front door hoping that something is being delivered for me. Since I was little, I've had a thing for mail and I also loved sending letters and fun packages myself. So when the doorbell rang last week and I got to receive a huge vase with a beautiful bouquet from Bloomon, my day couldn't get any better. You can take a subscription to Bloomon, so you're surprised weekly with a lovely, fresh bouquet of flowers. You understand that such a subscription is the ultimate gift to myself! I can't wait for next week when the doorbell rings.
One concept store after another is popping up in Amsterdam and I'm having trouble keeping up with them all. Now I'm fortunate that I often receive an invite for the opening, so I'm reasonably up-to-date. Upon receiving the invite for the opening of “That Store,” I was immediately curious about the concept: in De 9 Straatjes, there will be a store where each floor has a different purpose: fashion, art, food, and health. Yes, on the top floor, there is a gigantic machine that measures you completely, can give you energy, and brings your body back into balance: I.NEED.TO.TEST.THIS. I was really blown away when I saw this Karl shirt and also succumbed to a beautiful hat from The Dutch Hatter. And regarding that exciting machine on the top floor: I'm now on the waiting list. To be continued...
I am a big Amayzine fan and I always start my day with a few delightful articles online. I always look forward to the delicious and healthy recipes ‘from Jet’ and have tested several by now. So when the news broke that Jet was going to write her own cookbook, I started counting down the days. Of course, there are now countless healthy/gluten-free/raw/I-have-no-idea-where-to-buy-this-ingredient-but-it-will-be-healthy books, but what sets Jet apart from the rest is that she sometimes has a cheat day. And that she simply has a delicious recipe for an anti-hangover dish. Or mentions the places where you can get the tastiest bitterballen. And that is exactly a philosophy I love: half super healthy, but that other half can definitely be unhealthy. The cookbook is now proudly displayed in the kitchen cabinet and this weekend, I will definitely be cooking from it!
Years ago, I never thought I would say this, but I now have a sneaker addiction... Since heels have almost become a no-go (for the young ladies who wear a lot of heels: be careful! Before you know it, you can only walk in flat shoes...), it has become a quest to find nice, flat shoes. There are now so many sneaker variants from chic to cool that I have a pair of sneakers for every occasion. The big downside: for every new sneaker to die for, you can come up with another occasion. Like these grey Blackstone sneakers: I call this the perfect comfy/cool/but also dressed-up variant for under a nice pair of trousers or just a denim short. And let me just say that I have nothing for this specific description in my closet? Okay guys, I know: people get admitted for less...
