Thank god it’s summer

Kiki Duren

Summer, when does it start for you?

“I’m almost crying as I write this down, but normally I always go to the sun for at least two weeks in July. This year, my boyfriend and I decided to go in November . What seemed super cool at first, but now November suddenly sounds VERY far away. Three months, people. To bridge that time, we recently took a mini-trip Barcelona and in a month we’ll be spending a few days in Tuscany.”

Where should everyone go this summer?

“To Bali. Because Bali is super trendy, incredibly cool green, and perfect for a long chill vacation. And also quite good to give your Insta account a nice dose of nature injection, by the way. Otherwise, I really think Los Angeles is a great destination too. And Miami is still on my list. And Curaçao remains deliciously nice, by the way. Do you hear it? This indecisive fool needs help this summer. HELP!”

What does your ideal vacation day look like?

“Waking up way too energetic, blissfully skipping the makeup routine, slipping into a nice fluttery dress and off to the sun. Enjoying a long lunch in a beach tent in the afternoon, not thinking for a SECOND about burning those calories (bye-bye) and spending the rest of the day lounging on a beach bed and reading a good book. In the afternoon, a nice beach walk and then way too long ’showering‘ in the hotel room with my love. In the evening we drink wine and eat super fresh at the office? That’s a whole different story. And it really feels super deluxe.. God, I really need a vacation.”

What’s your summer drink?

“Watermelon-Mojito. Give me about four and I’ll do the most ridiculous stunts, but hey, my vacation company just has to accept that. And when I talk drunk with a Spanish or German accent, I’m quite funny. I think.”

And your favorite meal on a warm day?

“Tuna tartare with lemon and avocado. Super fresh for a scorching hot day. Sashimi is always nice, or carpaccio with truffle mayonnaise. On vacation, I want to have calamari at least once, that’s a tic. But I can also really appreciate a thick juicy burger with mozzarella or a club sandwich in between. You understand: I eat everything on vacation. My scale HATES me when I get home.”

What are you reading and listening to this summer?

“I just finished ‘Skin Pain’ by Saskia Noort. Really a good book. And on vacation, I always read those vacation thrillers. I’m currently reading ‘Ibiza’ by Kiki van Dijk. Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, or Drake is pumping from the speakers.”

What’s your way too expensive summer must-have?

“I’m not allowed to have must-haves anymore. I recently bought this a Chanel sunglasses and now I just have to be satisfied with something for a while. Okay, if it has to be: this a nice blue Gucci kid can dangle around my arm this summer.”
