DRAMA: LOOKING FOR A GIFT FOR YOUR GUY
Okay, just ten days left. Only TEN days until his birthday. February 16. Just like every other year. Why did I start so late? What should I buy for him? HELP.
My boyfriend Sander loves airplanes. A few years ago, I thought it would be a good idea to give him a ‘personal’ flight as a gift. Including flying for half an hour and getting his own mini pilot's license. Too cool, right? I bought a gift voucher. He thought it was fantastic. After a year, he let the voucher expire because ‘no time’ and then ‘forgot’. I was furious. But on the other hand: I've also had a pretty expensive voucher lying in my nightstand for almost a year. For a weekend stay in a castle, given to me by my mother. But it still hasn't happened. In short: vouchers are just difficult if you don't immediately set a date and men's gifts are especially miserable.
I asked the Amayzine editors for help and together we figured out that there are still really cool surprises to think of for your guy.
1. Something for barbecuing or other kitchen gadgets
Men are barbecue beasts, right? According to Simone, it's always a good idea to give your guy an outdoor kitchen/barbecue/other manly thing from Weber. “Or maybe something cheaper: kitchen gadgets. For example, sturdy wooden cutting boards, a good sharp knife, or a leather apron. For the real tough kitchen prince.”
2. Sneakers
Jet: “Shoes always do well, at least with my guy.”
3. Something from Apple
Is often an investment, but something from Apple, whatever it is, is always appreciated by men. A practical gift can also be very appreciated by your guy. For example, an external hard drive.
4. Dining out at a Michelin-starred restaurant
Really, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Take your partner to a Michelin-starred restaurant once. Bet you'll have great sex that night?
5. Kidnap him
A weekend away in the sun is always nice. Plus: you benefit from it too. Even more fun: make it mysterious. Sneakily pack his bag, blindfold your lover in the car, and drive with a big grin to Schiphol.
6. The droid from Star Wars
Tip from our editor Jori. I had to Google what this thing is, but real movie buffs will really appreciate this. Also cool: the Cubebot, a kind of wooden robot puzzle. Drones (I personally find them weird, dangerous things) also score with the opposite sex.
7. A spectacular experience
Think of a hot air balloon ride, skydiving, or a helicopter flight. Men are always very sensitive to these kinds of adrenaline thrills.
Now just choose something from the list and hope Sander doesn't read this...
