I have a wedding in the Netherlands, what to wear?

It's summer and the wedding season is ‘on’. Do you also have a wedding planned soon and really don't know what to wear? I totally get it. You obviously don't want to overshadow your dear bride friend, but you also certainly don't want to be overshadowed yourself. I'll help you a bit.

Check your weather app, but don't rely on it.

Unfortunately, a storm, thunderstorm, or moderate temperature is nothing surprising on a summer day in the Netherlands.

With unpredictable weather, we just have to deal with it in our little frog country. But do we then have to buy two outfits? No, that goes a bit too far. So?

Invest in a nice jacket, which you can still enjoy after the wedding. Then you can wear your favorite dress, no matter the weather, and if it starts to storm, you drape the jacket over your shoulders.

Are you unsure of which style to shop for or is there no clear dress code? Then be subtle. Prefer a romantic look over an edgy daring look. A nice lace dress is always a good choice.

Keep it light and bright, but white is only for the bride

According to old rules, you shouldn't wear white or cream-colored clothing to a wedding. Even though not everyone is always strict about it, just don't do it. Just to be sure. And while we're on the subject of color, try not to wear black in the morning and please leave your jeans at home.

Be nice to your feet

And last but not least: if the wedding or the party is celebrated on the beach, pay extra attention to your footwear. High heels are not a great success on sand. A somewhat wider heel, on the other hand, can save lives on the boards during the beach party. Tip: ask the masters of ceremonies about the surfaces of the day? Grass, pebbles, or is it flat? Adjust your shoes accordingly.
