At tea with Bvlgari
Tea suddenly comes to life there
I am really a huge tea lover. A cup of coffee really doesn't make me happy. A cup of tea, on the other hand, is what I love the most. Bvlgari has inspired five scents based on types of tea that you can totally become addicted to. By the type of tea and the scent, I mean. Now here’s the joke: actually, tea has no scent at all. But a cup of tea is a moment of relaxation and freshness, and that feeling is exactly what Bvlgari has managed to capture in a bottle. Meanwhile, there is a green, white, blue, red, and black variant in wonderfully colored bottles that smell even better. So, it will be high tea all day long. But that’s not so annoying.
Green tea
Let’s start with my favorite tea: green tea. I always feel that this is the healthiest tea, from which you also get energy. Not so strange, because green is viridis in Latin, and that means energy. If you look at it very strictly, Japanese tea is officially only green, and the rest is just not quite there. How that feeling is translated into a scent? It has the lightness of an eau de cologne, and you immediately smell the citrus fruits in it. With a pinch of pepper, cardamom, and green tea at its heart, you know at least that it lives up to its name. The hint of cedarwood, beeswax, and white musk suggests that green tea actually has a lovely scent.
White tea
Scientists consider white tea to be an elixir of immortality. Everywhere in the world, white stands for purity, light, calm, and wisdom. The white tea used for Eau Parfumée by Bvlgari is really very rare, for which you have to make a little trip, namely to the heart of the Himalayas, where, according to a legend, it is only harvested during a full moon. This makes the story even more magical. The scent is warm, but not too heavy, a little woody, and it contains ambrette and musk. I say: spray this scent all day long, and immortality is near. And spraying this scent is really no punishment.
Red tea
In South Africa I have really drunk a lot of rooibos tea. And I found it quite delicious. Rooibos is a very well-known ingredient in African medicine with its hydrating, anti-radical, and relaxing properties. That feeling has perfumer Olivier Polge managed to capture in a bottle. Pink pepper makes the scent very bright, together with orange and bergamot. Rooibos is, of course, very present, and you also smell a bit of walnut and musk. Well, if this bottle is for a healthy life, then you know what you have to do.
Black tea
Black tea sounds very exciting and actually has something magical about it. It has a very rich tea tradition with complex facets. The scent is also quite a bit exciting. This type of tea was often used during imperial tributes. The tea is strong in character and powerful in balance, invigorating and energizing, but also possesses mysterious powers. Yes, how do you bottle that Harry Potter feeling? Well, with woody and floral scent notes, perfumer Jacques Cavallier has done quite well.
Blue tea
Really, blue tea? That doesn’t actually exist. Although, in China, they once named a tea blue. But still, you do have a kind of idea with blue tea. Calmness and tranquility, that’s what it reminds me of. The scent you want to smell is the violet that blooms at its heart. Then you get a warmer, deeper scent with iris and musk. The scent is therefore very calming, but certainly not boring. In fact, quite the opposite. And you will definitely feel calm. A stressful day? Then you know which scent to grab.
