Good news from KLM

I think I already mentioned it, but in May I'm going to Panama for two weeks. On one of my favorite travel websites I found a super cheap ticket, so the decision was made quickly. Now, of course, it is true that when you fly so cheaply, you pay a certain price for it. In my case: two layovers. But then I'm in Panama for less than 300 bucks, so that seems fine to me.

Normally, however, I have a bloody hatred for layovers. What I sometimes try is to extend my layover. Instead of waiting aimlessly for three hours at an airport, I prefer a layover of an hour or ten or more, so you can at least see the city where you are.
And exactly that is something KLM has come up with something nice for. From mid-March, they will launch the Layover app for travelers who have a layover of six hours or longer at Schiphol. With the app, those travelers are connected to a local Amsterdammer and receive a free round trip to Amsterdam
Central. The local will be waiting for them there and they can be introduced to Amsterdam. How fun is that?

After the meeting, the app also helps you navigate back to Schiphol so that you are back on your flight on time. Really, I get incredibly excited about this and wish they would offer this at all airports worldwide. And I think it would be very fun to sign up as a local and then meet fun new people all the time. A new career maybe? Who knows, who knows…
