the do's and don'ts of glasses and hairstyles
Recently I got glasses. That's a thing. The selection process itself was quite a quest where I tried on different outfits and wore my hair both loose and in a bun to match. And when I just went to the hairdresser, I realized that it has a totally different effect now that I wear glasses. You really have to think about it. So after some research and reflection, I stumbled upon some lists of do's and don'ts and I put my findings in order.
The hairstyle
Rule 1. Don't forget to bring your glasses to the hairdresser. Not even if you only wear them in the car or at work. You just want it to be an ultimate match and you look just a little different. Do you have a simple frame? Then you can really go all out with your hairstyle. Do you have a bold frame? That's also very nice, but make sure your hairstyle doesn't become too overpowering. Volume is nice, but it can also get a bit heavy together. So keep it a bit balanced. A fringe can work well, but make sure it aligns nicely with the lenses, otherwise it looks a bit odd. Generally, fringes apparently go well with light frames. If you have dark lenses, it can appear a bit heavier on your face.
Hair color
Let me be clear: I am not a huge glasses expert, you know. Let alone an optician. But I do believe that certain colors of frames look better with certain hair colors. For brown hair, for example, metal frames or dark frames would look very good. For blonde hair, light frames or transparent glasses work very well together. Redheads can pull off a crazy color, except for white or yellow.
Hairstyles
The golden rule is of course to keep everything in balance. And you should also just wear a hairstyle that you think looks best. If you wear glasses, you know that there is already a focal point in your face. With a good hairstyle, you distribute the attention a bit and that brings a good balance. It really depends on what you want to achieve and what you want to radiate. It should represent your character, so make choices that are close to you. Short hairstyles actually suit all frames, and layers in your hair always work well.
