THIS WOULD HAPPEN IF WE (STILL) DIDN'T HAVE A MOBILE

I vaguely remembered what kind of mobile (either 06 or gsm) my parents had first. In fact: they shared a gigantic refrigerator between the two of them. On the back, in large letters written with Tipp-Ex, was the phone number of the device. Quite soon after that, the Nokia with Snake came out, and I always wanted to play that game. Then I was old enough to get a Nokia 3310 for my birthday, and since then I can't imagine life without a mobile.

What if there was no mobile phone? Do you know how different our lives would look? And do you know how situations would unfold? I do, namely like this:

1. My beloved would be surprised every day by what would be on the table. I always do the shopping and I cook (both with a lot of love, mind you), but I do text every day: ‘Honey, what are you in the mood for?’ And then we text back and forth for a bit and come up with a nice dish.

2. We would all have a clock radio.

3. I would be incredibly late everywhere, because there's no Google Maps and I have the directional sense of a blind chicken. So people would always have to wait for me, because there would be no message saying: ‘Hi! I'm running a bit late.’

4. You would have to set up meeting points at festivals.

5. We would really sleep much better, because there would be no scrolling and liking in bed.

6. Dismissing that guy is really a lot easier, because sending texts doesn't happen. Then he would have to come to your house. If he's really cute, that would be incredibly romantic, of course. You would at least make much more effort for each other than just quickly sending a silly text.

7. You would have to make decisions about clothing and which color bag in a store all by yourself. You can't text your friends with photos and advice anymore.

8. We have seas of time.
