KIEK IS HAPPY ABOUT THIS

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK NEWS

Stop the presses: I just heard that the fourth season of Orange Is the New Black is on its way. May, on June 17 I won't be at the office, but I fear I'll be parking my butt behind a very large TV with a bowl of popcorn.

For the rare group of non-Orange Is the New Black viewers (man, you're missing out): OITNB is the most successful production of American Netflix. The series is based on the ‘thug’ life in the women's prison Litchfield. Piper Chapman (ridiculously well played by Taylor Schilling in the series) is sentenced to 15 months in prison for transporting drug money. She trades her comfortable New York life for an orange jumpsuit. And a lot of drama that I can really enjoy.

Variety brought the happy news to light this weekend. And as if the Netflix gods have heard my prayers, the fourth season is dropping on a Friday. Hello, FRIDAY. That means the whole weekend binge-watching OITNB. And then at the end of the weekend crying because we have to wait another year.

4x why you also want to watch OITNB

1. It's one of the few series that made me laugh out loud.
As in: really a roaring, ugly laugh, with sound and everything.

2. In Orange Is the New Black the women are ‘real’.’
They show their emotions and talk about topics like menstruation and sniffing dirty underwear. No Sex and the City boy talk and makeup (also fun at times), but real women with real problems.

3. The women in Litchfield are a reflection of society.
The series doesn't hold back politically, and that's why we all enjoy the problems of transgender Sophia (played by Laverne Cox). A good friend of mine once got to interview her, and if I may believe her: move over Caitlyn Jenner, Laverne Cox is the real deal.

4. Poussey, Red, Taystee, Crazy Eyes, Pennsatucky, Big Boo…

Trust me: you just want to get to know all these bizarre characters. See ya in June, Litchfield ladies!
