MARIE-CLAIRE IN MALIBU

To counteract (or mask) aging a bit, I have gathered quite a few maintenance treatments over the years. For coloring and cutting my hair, I go to Sergio at Rob Peetoom. For my facial treatments, I have been faithfully going to Zilla at Parfumerie Louise for 10 years. And for my eyebrows (and also for my mani and pedi, where did I find the time, huh…) I go to the City Street Spa in Amsterdam where I have them shaped and colored by Romy. I bought a jar of brown clay from her that you can use to color your eyebrows without it looking too unnatural. ‘Anastasia Beverly Hills’ is written on it. Since I have let myself go a bit in the past few months without my regular addresses, I thought I would start looking for a good eyebrow specialist. And eyebrows are difficult. The trend is to not have them too thin, but what if you don't have much eyebrow, then it really is an art to make them look thick anyway. Well, Romy does that like the best and I let her wax, tweeze, and dye them with peace of mind. To keep it up a bit at home, I use that jar from Anastasia.

I use that every day and now that I live close to Beverly Hills, I thought I would drop by her. Of course, I would have loved to have a personal appointment with the mrs. herself, but a friendly voice on the phone taught me that Anastasia rarely performs treatments anymore. I understand that. If I had been named Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, or even Daniëlle Oerlemans, she might have come running. No problem. I traveled to South Bedford Drive (right next to Rodeo Drive, not a bad neighborhood at all) and had my brows expertly shaped by protégé Alexandra. If I wanted fake lashes, she could recommend the salon across the street (I'll skip that) and for my hair, I really had to go to a salon in Malibu. So I went there right away for a gloss and a blow-dry. Completely under construction, which is fine because tonight is the party. Our dear friend Marieke, who lives in the most beautiful house on the most beautiful mountain in Beverly Hills, is having a birthday and everyone is coming.

Marie-Claire Witlox packed her bags and moved with her husband (yes, that is indeed Jeroen van Koningsbrugge) and their children to Malibu. To make us green with envy…
