MARIE-CLAIRE IN MALIBU

When I thought it would be really fun to create a show here in Malibu where Jeroen invites all his music friends to make beautiful songs, I could not have anticipated how much fun it would become. Before the recordings started, I was allowed to look at all the houses in Malibu to search for a suitable location. That was really a treat, as you enter houses with a rich history and stories about who once lived there and who the neighbors are. We are talking about the likes of Cher to Barbra Streisand and from Gwyneth Paltrow to Leonardo DiCaprio.

They also just have a toilet. Or six. The house that it finally became is owned by a film director and is located high on a mountain with a view of the sea. You can see the Malibu Pier on one side and on the other side, you look at LA, Santa Monica Pier, and Venice. Now that we are there so often and working, I am slowly discovering who the neighbors are. You do live in a new neighborhood for a while. Not that you see each other much, but the idea that Yolanda Foster (the mother of Gigi Hadid), Sean Penn, Mel Gibson, and John Travolta live on the same street is a nice thought. What they do not know is that in our house, a mega-sized star comes by every week. I mention a Nick Schilder, Thomas Acda, Roel van Velzen, Nicky Romero, Gers Pardoel, Racoon, Typhoon, Waylon. We are proud of it and of the result. I can't wait until ‘Songs of Life’ is on the air.
