My life in a bag

Esther Vedder

We would like to introduce you to Esther Vedder and her amazing bag collection. She has 15 bags, but she does play a little unfairly. Because if you thought you had seen Esther earlier in My Life in a Bag, you are mistaken, that was actually Anne Vedder, her twin sister. This means double the fun for her clothing and bag collection.

How many bags do you have?

‘Because I ‘borrow’ a lot (my twin sister prefers to call it ‘stealing’), we have double the amount of clothing and therefore also bags. So I just count it up and then I think about 15.’

What is the story behind this bag?

‘Since I have my own business, I enjoy setting goals for myself in a professional context. Once I achieve these, I allow myself to pick out a new bag. Always fun, then I go with Anne (my twin sister) to Paul Warmer and we really make a special day out of it.’

How do you handle your bag?

‘I actually need to be much neater with my bag. The first few days I am very tidy, but it quickly becomes less so. I find it important that I have a lot of fun with my bag and that I don’t have to worry too much about it getting dirty. I do have it cleaned every now and then, otherwise it would be a shame.‘

What about the content?

‘Nowadays I have sunscreen from Kiehl’s in my bag again. Also nail polish because I get annoyed by half-painted nails. And I always try to have a necklace from our jewelry brand Vedder&Vedder with me. If I unexpectedly find myself somewhere where it comes in handy, I won’t be empty-handed.’

What do you always have with you?

‘I always have earplugs with me, it’s wonderful to ride through Amsterdam with music on.’

What do you think are the best features of a bag?

I always look for a bag that is perfect for both day and night so I don’t have to switch. This one is perfect: everything fits in it, but it’s not too big. And in the summer I like lighter colors and in the winter darker colors.’

‘The Chloé Faye.’
