Money does make you happy!
Look, we have known this for a long time of course, but it is still nice when things are emphasized by research. Because what is the case. Everyone always says that money doesn't make you happy, but that's nonsense.
Look, it won't be purely and solely the money that makes you happy, but it can definitely help. Being happy also means being free of worries and when you really have to turn over every penny, you have quite a lot on your mind. But, the research.
A group of psychologists from the University of Oxford analyzed 77,000 bank transactions and concluded that money can make you happy, especially at moments when we spend it – provided it is on the right things. Here's the thing. They compared the transactions with the personality traits of those who made the purchases and their feelings after buying. What turned out: there is a connection between personality traits and the happy feeling after making a purchase.
Admittedly, it is quite obvious. Extroverted people prefer to spend their money on ‘entertainment and travel.’ Emotionally stable people prefer to give their money to ‘charities or pets’, autonomous people choose ‘the hairdresser or beautician’, orderly people are happy with ‘insurance or the gym’ and neurotics like to gamble or spend it on traffic fines.
What should you do with it? No idea. The most important thing is: don't feel guilty anymore when you become happy from a certain purchase, it is simply who and how you are. We know that now too.
