Pien, you are the model from our series. Tell us about your model ranking. Where were you discovered?
“I actually owe all of this to a friend of mine, Marayah. Marayah is an aspiring photographer and wanted to take pictures of me back then. I thought it was super fun; the photos she took were beautiful and I actually wanted to do more with them because of her… that happened too, because now I am registered with Touché Models. At the moment, I mainly do photoshoots, maybe in the future I will walk shows, but I think I will still enjoy the combination with photoshoots more. I love how some photographers can capture a moment so well.”
Who is your big role model among the big models out there and why?
“Adriana Lima. Her dark locks with bright blue eyes…. And what I also find so nice about her is that she loves boxing. A spicy lady indeed. She is my role model because she has come so far and still retains her charm and down-to-earth nature. You see that disappearing more and more with others.”
What do you dream of as a model (opening a Chanel show, on the cover of Vogue Italy, or a cultural project)?
“Funny enough, I don’t have big dreams. Most girls dream of Victoria’s Secret, of a cover for a big magazine, but I dream of being able to keep doing fun assignments. For me, it’s not about getting into big magazines or shows, but I just want to travel and discover and do as much as possible. If I really have to choose something, I would love to do a shoot on one of the most beautiful beaches or in one of the most beautiful nature areas.’
As a model, you have to wait a lot. What do you read, do, or watch to pass the time?
“Not just waiting. I have to come all the way from Friesland every time, so I also spend hours on the train. I usually take schoolwork or a book with me to pass the time.”

“Then you mainly see Pien Swart and now and then a nature photo that I took #workinprogress.”

Our series was photographed in a restaurant Balthazar. What are your favorite restaurants and what’s on your plate?
“I love exotic food. But I actually think everyone who goes to Morocco should go to a traditional restaurant once and order tajine de poulet au citron.”
Which outfit from the series would you like to have in your closet?
“Every outfit… *coughcough*, I think my preference goes to the lovely dress.”
And which one do you say; well, skip me for now?
“Then I would skip the transparent blouse with white flowers on it, because I’m not a big fan of transparent clothing.”
Imagine, you have a bad day.
What are your beauty essentials?
“Sometimes I think; Pien, you really need to focus more on products and makeup etc., because I. Am. Not. Good. At. This. I am currently in my final year of VWO and wow, what a tough time that is! So I have a bad day almost every day. Too little sleep, way too much stress! I do notice that when I go to bed on time every day, drink enough water, and at least move well every day, I feel a lot better. A mild mask also works wonders from time to time ;-).”
