OUR GIRL IN NEW YORK
The New York Fashion Week is here! And that means a huge number of fashion people in the city, lots of glasses of wine and cups of coffee, changing outfits a hundred times before you leave the house, and this morning the presentation of Kate Spade. On the rooftop terrace of The NoMad’s Penthouse, where Beyoncé celebrated her birthday a few days earlier, a true pink Moroccan fairy tale has emerged. Blue thinks of all those flying garments and shoes in the room, I look at the always impressive view and patiently wait for the Kate Spade fairy tale to begin.
Inspired by Morocco but never losing the sweet Kate Spade signature, the insane creations come by. Tassels, blue and white patterns, and especially the ochre yellow dominate. In between, we were served traditional tea and snacks. And all of that in pink vibes made Kate Spade this season more than successful.
So. Time for coffee with friend Q. and then that Mimosa. And then also that chocolate cake... We are sitting at Sant Ambroeus in West Village and sweating off the terrace. Okay, I don't want to complain, because I'd rather have this than piles of snow, a red nose, and shivering knees. But god oh god, it is hot! Outside, my mascara consistently slides down my cheeks and my head turns piglet pink. Top combination with Fashion Week... So.
Vogue and Dyson invited friend and fellow blogger Rebecca Laurey and me for a Sunday blow-out. Just a few blocks from my place, I take a seat in the salon chair and get to see the supersonic hairdryer from Dyson up close. It honestly looks like a jet engine. Really a super cool thing that also dries and curls hair beautifully. The result: beach waves that dance. On to Scotch & Soda!
The Dutchies! Lizzy van der Ligt, Quirine from Scotch, and I are colorful, just before the presentation of Scotch & Soda. And what a fantastic presentation it was this year. The collection is truly a dream. And no, I'm not saying this just because I'm incredibly proud of our Dutch flagship this Fashion Week, but mainly because it really is.
After being enchanted by the tableau vivant of Scotch , it was time for wine and pizza. And nowadays you do that at the all-popular (especially among bloggers) Pizza Beach. And with pizza, of course, comes? Exactly: Pinot Grigio.
The girls from Amayzine are here! We meet at Mays (but also mine) favorite Italian Morandi. While May's boyfriend takes care of the delicacies on the table, makeup artist Dominique Samuel also joins. And yes, of course, there is wine and the whole table hugs Blue. This extensive lunch with only Dutchies was really one of the coziest occasions of Fashion Week. And now it's already over, but for me, it's time to pack my suitcase for Italy! Anyone have tips for Florence and Cinque Terre? If so, can you send me a message via Instagram? My thanks are great.
