onze meid in New York

BF4L is in town! My girlfriend from the West Coast is back here. Husband is playing in the Netherlands, so traditionally Jane is in New York. This time mom is also joining us and we have a weekend theme: the dress. Ten months ago it was the first dress I tried on. It wasn't even on my list, but was chosen by the lady from the store. And immediately it was a hit. Love at first sight. And now ten months later she has come all the way from Israel to New York. The beads have been hand-placed. Safely packed, she has been hanging with the ladies of L’Fay for a few weeks now. And tomorrow is the day. I get to admire her again. I did have nightmares about it. Sometimes she was purple, sometimes she was pink, and sometimes she wasn't there at all. But I think she is just as beautiful as ten months ago. No, I am sure of it.

But before the long white is pulled out of the closet, first comes the long black. The Young Patrons are in town and organizing a masquerade ball. This group of young professionals with a heart for ballet and opera are not only incredibly fun but also masters at organizing parties and events. This time at the Lincoln Centre where we will first see ballet, and then waltz onto the dance floor ourselves. In long attire. And with a mask. Friend Jane just wasn't prepared for the ball. So what's the first thing we do in New York? Of course, score a long black dress. It fits perfectly into our weekend theme. And it was another unforgettable evening.

On to the dress! And what can I say… So beautiful. So stunning. And so secret that I won't say another word about it.

Indian Summer! Bare arm, bare leg, and a juice in hand. It feels like summer. So we order lunch, coffee, wine, and a dessert outside.

Superfood pancakes from Tiny’s! Besides the fact that the restaurant is pink, you definitely have to visit this place in Tribeca for the delights filled with broccoli and leek.

In the Balloon Saloon. Can this pink flamingo come home with me?

Upper East Side is richer by one wonderful store. My friend Sophie from the Netherlands, but living in New York for a long time now, has launched her brand AUrate and is already opening her second store. Right in the middle of Madison Avenue. And what a stunning collection she has again this year!

Faithfully he waits for me. Of course, I am late again. Mr. Darcy from Skillful Touch has a bone to pick with me. After Italy, I haven't been to see him. After those long summer evenings with liters of wine, I haven't done any exhausting exercise for almost a month now. I'm falling apart. Luckily, today is already Friday. We can have wine again. With bubbles, because it's my birthday.
