OUR GIRL IN NEW YORK
This time, the 21st day of the tenth month of the year fell on a Friday. The day I wake up to gifts. For a year now, with a special card from Blue that has his little teeth on it. And if possible, with a day off from my fiancé. Gifts are always nice and so is a lavish meal with just my Teun. But I never really celebrated my birthday. Until this year. On the Monday before my birthday Friday, I decided to organize a party for a change. A pizza party. Nothing crazy, just pizza and wine and friends. In the best pizza place in the Lower East. With a proper invitation, and while I was virtually crafting it, I realized that at least 31 pink balloons had to be ordered. Balloon Saloon And also that a new birthday suit had to come. I secured a spot for my mother and me at Rachel Zoe’s Dreamdry. But other than that, it was just pizza and wine. And thus the best birthday ever took place. At a long table in the azure-colored Pizza Beach, with all our New York friends, me in a new suit from Self-Portrait and 31 balloons that my fiancé transported from Tribeca to LES. It lasted until the early hours. Man oh man, was this fun. From now on, I will always celebrate my birthday where those pink balloons become the tradition.
The weekend, also known as my birthday weekend, ended after a rough Saturday in the cinema with XL popcorn and XXL cola on a sunny Sunday in Central Park. Blue stretches as far as he can with his nose out the window. Whether this is against car sickness or if he is already sniffing the nature, I don’t know. But he always finds it a party, that park. And so do we. The sky is blue and the leaves are already turning beautifully autumnal.
Then it was time for ASOS. The new collection was shown and I was allowed to come with my loyal four-legged friend. Groomed and styled, we walked briskly to the location to then ascend to the top floor. Once we arrived where we needed to be, Blue was stormed by all the ladies from ASOS. He even got a custom-made bandana with his name on it, and there have probably never been so many photos taken of him. Amid all the clicks, snaps, and petting, I could still take a quick look at all the racks. And honestly, ASOS is back! The materials are amazing, the designs as well, and I genuinely can't wait until it hits the online fashion shelves in February.
Finally, looking back to when Blue was tired and New York seemed like Disneyland. But even without my living teddy bear, Mickey Mouse ears, and Aladdin taxi, I have to sigh again from the 47th floor. How beautiful you are, New York. In the meantime, will you here take a look with me?
