OUR GIRL IN NEW YORK
At Toby’s Estate I drank my very first takeaway cappuccino after the big crossing, and now we live just a two-minute walk away. We get coffee and Blue slurps some water from the bowl Toby set out as usual. We also browse through the hidden bookstore filled with bouquets of fresh flowers. Then we eat avocado toast at by CHLOE. And all of that is just around the corner for us. We live next to the Flatiron, but perhaps not for long. We want something different. Something bigger. Something in the Lower East Side. Something with more of that New York grunge vibe. Something loft-like with lots of light and old elements. But as Blue and I take our walk through the neighborhood, I suddenly don't know for sure anymore. Do we really want to leave here?
We have a viewing. In Nolita, we first eat fries and steak tartare. Then we walk on to the Lower East Side. The landscape changes. This is where it happens. The arty fartiness drips from every corner and crevice here. Unfortunately, the apartment is still too small. Long live the wide-angle lens for real estate agents. Because what looked like a mega apartment with floor-to-ceiling windows is in reality a glass shoebox. The rooftop terrace is pretty cool though. Just look at this view....
We have nothing to complain about with our roof. On the weekends, I plant myself up there after about four o'clock. Before that, it's simply too hot. But around ‘golden hour’, it's a real treat. Especially in my new swimsuit. I got this one again from my friends from The Outnet. Aren't they sweet?
Oh, that little restaurant in Nolita with chairs that look like they were stolen from Paris? It's called Jacques 1534. Very cozy.
Brunching on the weekend should never be skipped. And on Sunday, that was with Rebecca Laurey. You know, that super stylist (and really fun) blogger from the Netherlands. We meet at Cafe Clover. On the terrace, we sit in the shade, drink macchiatos, and enjoy delicious items from the brunch menu.
In an amazing apartment, we have a party. The sun sets, the DJ spins records, and I Snapchat like crazy... Just look at this view!
Stripes and flowers. I have and will always have a weakness for these two prints. Right now, it's daisies and these stripes that leave the shoulders bare. Yes. Stripes and flowers are my favorites.
Project love! Every now and then, I break out in a sweat. Only 11 months left. And then I have to wear that dress in Italy, surrounded by everyone we still need to officially invite, to get married. While all of that has to look like a fairy tale and everyone is happy and joyful... Breathe in, breathe out...
Teun (my fiancé) says I shouldn't stress so much. Everything will be fine. And if not, then not. Look, simple but true. He orders pizza (the biggest one there is). I drink a glass of red with it. My blood pressure drops, and I realize that there is only one thing that needs to be right on our day: and that is him & me. So, no more stress, just love for my man. Because if there's one thing I don't need to arrange anymore, it's that we are right. Because we have been for years. Period. And besides, we are also incredibly good-looking, despite the braces + glasses. Right?
