OUR GIRL IN NEW YORK

On Tuesday morning, I am still in relaxation mode. A cup of coffee, just out of the bath. With a turban-like towel creation on my head. Yes, totally in a state of ‘zen’ and cleanliness. I decide to open my email.

Something I do every day. It has been quiet the past few days. A bit too quiet. And that turned out to be for a reason. My phone was glitching. It almost started buzzing. And suddenly there were the 100 emails that had been hanging in the air that I had missed. Oh no. Here we go. My eye immediately falls on the six (!) emails from The Outnet with a lot of question marks and the location of the breakfast where I was expected. In exactly 20 minutes. Like a whirlwind, I rushed through the house. Off with that turban. Mascara on. Shoes on. Taxi in. And, I was on time. With palpitations, but I made it. Enjoying breakfast with the ladies from The Outnet and designer Adam Lippens who have launched a super cool new line.

I need new passport photos. In USA style. And to be honest, I always dread that a little. I've never had a good passport photo. Really never. But uptown I find a place that is a flower shop and passport photo business in one. Ha, I have to have that. And guess what? My first normal passport photo. To celebrate my successful mission, I stop by Godiva for a bag of chocolate-covered strawberries. And I pay a visit to Cartier for half an hour of looking, not buying, and a snapshot on their bizarrely cool staircase.

Blue and I are walking through West Village. There the birds are chirping and it's a return to basics. The narrow sidewalks are so cute. We make a pit stop for coffee at Sant Ambroeus. Upon returning home, he gets my snack. And then Blue suddenly becomes a girl. Look how cute.

Doing emails on the 74th floor (yes, those other 94 that suddenly fell from the sky) is no punishment. And this mask isn't either. Even with my sensitive skin, it's a success. The glow is completely back (even despite the gray skies of the past few days) and even my husband notices that my cheek is softer than ever.

Weekend! And then you have to brunch. This weekend we went to one of the most beautiful spots in New York: The Nomad Hotel. Although I would recommend this restaurant more for winter with all its beautiful fireplaces and deep dark colors, it is still a good place for brunch now. Especially for the veggie burger and the carrot tartare. Seriously, the tastiest burger I've ever had. And I'm not even a vegetarian.

Walking in SoHo after a day of typing and getting inspired to be a pineapple along the way.

In the morning it is cloudy, cold, bleak, and time to put the winter coat back on. A few hours later, I parade with bare legs and open shoes across the crosswalk. Yes, that's New York this spring.

Exactly 365 days ago. And almost exactly another 365 days to go before I can wear my white dress. I can't wait. But luckily time flies.
