the (new) look of Máxima
Of course, I was spinning in front of the screen, fully aware that our queen would treat us to a fantastic look. After all, nobility obliges. And Máxima is Máxima is Máxima and thus thrice well-dressed. Today, another order from our southern neighbor Natan was delivered. A southern neighbor who had looked very closely at Christian Dior. To be precise, at his New Look from 1947.
Wide skirt to mid-calf made of rich fabric in cheerful print, above a fitted twinset that emphasizes the feminine shapes because the New Look, as this style was dubbed, was all about femininity and cheerfulness. Exactly what characterizes our queen and this day.
It was, as always, perfect down to the cheerful fuchsia pumps in beautiful suede. But I have a point for improvement; the hat. I understand that our queen expected buckets of rain and this hat would serve perfectly as a rain shield. But the sun was also shining, and then the rain shield suddenly became a shadow maker, and we could hardly see the face of our queen. While that is precisely what we love to see. So maybe two hats next year? Or should I just order an overdose of sun for April 27, 2017?
