CUSTOMIZE YOUR CAR

The first time I was really impressed by a car was twenty years ago and it went like this. Finally, a woman who wasn't driving a shopping cart but treated herself to a sturdy Renault Mégane convertible. In bright yellow. I still share my opinion immensely, although I would like to tweak it a bit in terms of color.

Just like fashion, cars also change. And that's why banana yellow is out, and Laurens van den Acker (head of design at Renault and, as the name suggests, indeed a Dutchman in Paris) has come up with colors to replace it with names so beautiful that you would want to name your future children after them.

All a bit more subtle and deeper than that one that once caught my attention. Just as mixing and matching is the term in fashion, customizing is that at Renault. Because of course, you determine how your car looks. It would be something; you ‘wear’ your car every day, so you should be happy with every detail. When you buy a Renault Mégane, you choose the color of the paint, but also the upholstery and the wheels.

Imagine it and it happens the way you want it. But then you're not done yet. You can also completely adjust the car itself to how you want it and even to your mood. Do you want sporty or comfortable, or are you more eco? The car adjusts the transmission system to your choice, and even the color of the dashboard moves along. The fun thing about this variant is that if someone else drives the car, he or she can also set their ideal mood.

Oh, I almost forgot the massage function (yes, you read that right). It also adjusts to your driving mode. And the ultimate state of customizing is, of course, that you form your personal setting. With a ‘melange’ of your driving style, the color, the massage setting; everything just. It’s not much different, and Renault ensures that your car puts on a different outfit every day. Now you think I'm joking, but just wait, in twenty years... Let Laurens van den Acker slide.
