Guilty Pleasures

DIRK ZEELENBERG

We all know him as the brilliantly funny curly-haired guy in Divorce, but in the meantime, Dirk Zeelenberg's life has not always been about long live the fun. He was beaten by his father, his mother didn't see him, and he got himself deeply in debt. He shares all of this in his candid book ‘Not exactly a success story’ which will be in stores from October 11. What are we going to talk about? His guilty pleasures, because I am really curious about that.

What is your strangest trait?

“I always hit the target at the fair and I can aim snowballs at someone really well, if I may say so, haha.”

Who were you a huge fan of when you were younger?

“By Robert Long. I could really listen to his music for hours.”

Biggest superficial turn-off?

“Instagram. In my new book, I have therefore removed the ‘Instagram filter’ from my life and I show all the mistakes as well. People nowadays only show what they want to show on social media. It's not real. That really annoys me.”

Favorite sing-along?

“’May I then be with you’ by Claudia de Breij.”

Which task do you always procrastinate?

“Administration. So terrible.”

Biggest pointless irritation?

“The baggage carousel at Schiphol. Especially when some people stand way too close, how can you see your suitcase then?!”

What do people not know about you?

“Many people always think that I am a self-assured joker, but I can also be really shy.”

Do you ever tell a little white lie?

“Of course, who wouldn't?”

Your secret favorite program?

“Not secretly: ‘Laughing at home videos’.”

Your biggest addiction?

“Food. And especially the Peking duck at Ron Gastrobar Oriental in Amsterdam.”

What is your catchphrase?

“’Why?’ I somehow ask it almost about everything.”

Hidden talent?

“I can park flawlessly.”

Do you have an embarrassing hobby?

“Watching Instagram accounts and then laughing really hard at people who film themselves in the gym. HAHA.”
