SEVEN FUN TREATS TO HAND OUT ON FRIDAY
‘Simone, do you have plans on Friday, November 11?’ ‘What do you mean by that, brother?’ Carnival in Maastricht was my first thought. But that wasn't it. November 11 means here in the west, and especially in the village: Saint Martin. No ’alaaf‘, painted faces, drums, and flutes, but singing kids, filled baskets, and hot chocolate on the driveway. And for the childless households among us: a little hotel in the big city or unplugging the doorbell and dimming all the lights. So I already have plans, you understand that, of course.
Now we have a number of moms in the editorial team who do participate in the madness. Especially for them, I have some inspiration for tomorrow evening. Get the craft box out and preheat the oven. Seven treats to fill some little hands. This time no healthy alternatives because yes, it is a children's party after all.
1. Rice Krispies
I have always been a big fan of Rice Krispies. And not just me, it's a party when I arrive with a filled shopping bag at my nephews and niece's place. Then you also know right away: in an hour we will all be sick on the couch. The fun part of this treat is that you can put your entire imagination into it and even build entire castles with it. This time we keep it simple. And so the ingredients as well.
For the base:
300 grams of Rice Krispies (Kellogg’s)
300 grams of marshmallows (no marshmallow candies)
50 grams of butter
Melt the butter and add the marshmallows. Let it melt over low heat. Once everything is melted, add the Rice Krispies and mix everything together. Pour the mixture into a large baking dish lined with baking paper. Press the mixture down well and place the dish in the refrigerator for at least two hours. And then the creative part begins. Have fun and don’t eat too much candy, okay?.
2. Ghost Lollipops
Very simple and super fun, these little ghosts. All you need: a box of tissues, licorice laces, a black marker, and a bag of lollipops.
3. Brooms
Since there will probably be an overkill of candy collected, it’s also fun to approach it just a little differently. These brooms also contain a small gift in the form of a pencil.
4. Batman
You need to have collected some toilet paper rolls, but how fun are these Batman popcorn boxes? Start crafting, May.
5. Fishing Rods
Cool, right, these little fishing rods? Ready in no time and they also look super cute on the table.
6. Mummy Oreos
How fun are these mummy Oreos? Hands off, mommy. For the kids.
7. Dracula Fangs
For the real craft enthusiasts among us, you can make these Dracula fangs.
And uh, colleagues, I am also unavailable tonight.
