STYLISH IN THE RAIN
HERE'S HOW YOU DO IT
The fun part of my job is that I go everywhere. It's wonderful to zip through the city on my bike from PR agency to designer. The only downside of my job is: zipping through the city on a bike. At least when it rains. And it has been raining quite often lately. A lot.
Hence the question and the answer: how does one get through the rain a bit stylishly? And dry, yes. That too.
The hat
Fortunately, the hunter's hat is in style and they come in all sorts, sizes, and prices. I would go for a classic with a nice felt brim, which is both fun and protects your face (and your makeup!) better against the rain than, for example, a beret. This way, your hair also stays a bit styled.

The coat
Choose one with a coating that makes the droplets slide off. A wool coat absorbs all the moisture and then starts to smell like a wet Lassie throughout the day. You don't want that. There are also quite a few nice raincoats, for example from Rains. They are really ideal if you have to sit on the bike for twenty minutes.

High boots
Make sure to spray them well, otherwise they will be ruined immediately. High boots prevent the droplets from sliding in and soaking your shoes. There are few things worse than that. So high boots, long coat, and the body is covered.

Then there's the bag
I would give your fragile calfskin Chanel a rest day because it really won't shine from a traditional Dutch rain shower. Hermès provides a rain cape with the Birkin Bags. Just in case you and your bag unexpectedly end up in a downpour. For us ordinary mortals without Hermès and a rain cape, I recommend that you have a bag that you can close so that not all the rain seeps in. Or you choose an inner bag where you put all your stuff.
