Gwyneth's stalker gets away with it... seriously?
It's the Hollywood talk of the day: actress Gwyneth Paltrow's stalker is free. And that really scares me. I actually find it downright ridiculous.
I've been questioning the American legal system for a while now. The biggest creeps can just be released into the wide world if they come across as even slightly sympathetic and put on a sad face. Just like with Gwyneth. Despite the actress's attempts to get her stalker behind bars, TMZ reports today that her case apparently wasn't strong enough to convince the jury. The man is not guilty of stalking, according to the judge. Seriously?
6 points about Gwyneth's stalker in a row. Read and shudder, people:
1. The best man, Dante Soiu, has harassed the actress for SEVEN-TEN years.
2. He not only sent letters, gifts, and ‘sexually charged material’ to Gwyneth, but he also threatened her and her family members…
3. Earlier this month, Gwyneth broke down in tears when she recounted in court what Dante Soiu had done to her.
4. Okay, apparently not guilty, but maybe a psychological treatment would be a good idea? No, according to the jury, that's not necessary either. For your information: in 2000, a judge sent the man to a psychiatric facility due to his obsession with the actress.
5. The Los Angeles police have stated in a statement that they definitely consider the man a danger to Gwyneth. According to them, the chance that he will leave her alone is small, very very small.
6. That same police department plans to talk to the judge to see what went ‘wrong’ in the case.
I guess that's going to be a long conversation. I feel for you, Gwyn…
