THIS IS HOW I FEEL LIKE A NEW YORKER IN AMSTERDAM

Starbucks in the city

Last year I was in New York with Amayzine and even though it was minus twenty, we still had to go out for some visits. Then we would warm up enormously in Starbucks in between. I thought that was pretty cool. In the Netherlands, I didn't go to Starbucks that often, but there I really needed to warm up a bit and feel like a true New Yorker.

I also thought it was super cool that Jet went for a run in the morning (while I turned over three times) and then came down the stairs with a tray of Starbucks cups in her hand. Even when we were sitting at the kitchen table, I was glowing with enthusiasm that I felt incredibly cool. And then I would happily type at the kitchen table and didn't have to deal with that damn cold.

“If you don't have a Starbucks nearby, no worries; you just grab them from the dairy section of the supermarket.”

Long story short. New York was already a year ago, but since then I've been visiting Starbucks a bit more often in the Netherlands. Not to warm up (Thank God it's not minus twenty in the Netherlands), but just to embrace that New York feeling for a moment. And then, of course, walking down the street with that cup. Or, if I'm really in a bit of a hurry, speed walking home (because that's what New Yorkers do too) and drinking it behind my desk.

Now I'm not a huge coffee drinker myself. The smell is divine, but the taste isn't really my thing. Until I discovered these chilled coffees, the Chilled Classics, from Starbucks. They look nice, plus point, but they are also delicious. Even if you're not a huge coffee lover. The Caffè Americano, for example, has a coffee flavor, but also a hint of sugar and especially a lot of milk – and is therefore very cold – making it basically just a sweet snack. If you don't have a Starbucks nearby, no worries; you just grab them from the dairy section of the supermarket, so you can just enforce that coolness. And that way you can always throw it in your bag and enjoy it wherever and whenever you feel like it. In New York, Amsterdam, or just in Bussum.
