THIS IS HOW YOU FEEL AT HOME EVERYWHERE

AT HOME IN THE WORLD

Whether you're on vacation or traveling for a longer period, homesickness can always arise. Even when you're not crying in bed about how you want to go “HOOOOME NOW”, that vague mhew-feeling is just as annoying. Thankfully, I've never experienced real homesickness, but I definitely know that mhew-feeling. So here are some tips and tricks on how to prevent and cure it.

Do something you also do at home

That can be anything. Feel like exercising? Look for a local gym or check with large hotels if you can use their gym. What always gives me a huge I-live-here feeling is Netflix. Or binge-watching series in general. On this trip, I haven't had a mhew-feeling (yet), but I still felt like doing nothing last week except lounging on the couch and watching Netflix. So it came in handy that I brought my MacBook along.

Eat something you also eat at home

Addicted to caesar salads? Avocados? Chicken? Mozzarella? Pizza? Whatever it is, if you're staying in a somewhat large city, you can almost always find everything somewhere. What also helps a lot to feel completely happy again is to order a good glass of white wine somewhere. Especially in Asian countries where you probably mainly drink beer because wine is so ridiculously expensive. Take it from me: wine always has a healing effect. That's just how it is.

Buy a local SIM card

Maybe you want to be “offline and stuff” and that's fine, but with a local SIM card and thus contact with the whole world for almost nothing, you won't feel so far away from home. Plus, you can endlessly Instagram and Facebook, and that's worth something too.

Treat yourself to something nice

If nothing else works, go to a good store and buy something nice for yourself. No one can resist a beautiful piece of clothing, right?
