This is what you should do if you spill red wine on your clothes

It happens to me because I am clumsy. I knock things over, I trip, I lose things, I am a messy person (but I can also clean up very well) and I have to work with to-do lists, otherwise I forget everything. But let's just stick to spilling wine. Especially when it's on someone else's clothes (I can quickly think: oh, what does it matter? Not necessarily a very nice trait), you have to act quickly. I did a round at the editorial office and everyone seems to have their own methods here:

1. Take immediate action. But really right away! Salt is the magic word. Break open the container of kitchen salt and sprinkle the spot with red wine and let it soak in. Remove the clothing item if necessary.

2. Always dab, never rub.

3. Treat the stain with Vanish, that's seriously good stuff.

4. Old wine stains can be removed by dabbing with dish soap and letting it soak for about six hours. Then just wash it out.

5. Rinse with lukewarm or cold water. Never super hot water, by the way.

6. Let the clothing item soak overnight in milk and then put it in the washing machine.

7. Pour white wine over the red wine stain. That draws out the color. And then it needs to go in the washing machine. I must admit: I have never tried this myself, so I can't guarantee that it will work well.
