SO YOU'RE RAIN-READY

Do you remember? Back in the day on the bike? I had to cover twelve kilometers every day (and that was just one way…) from our remote house to school and yes, you do catch a shower now and then when you live in the Netherlands. Under my bungee cords was my school bag with a dark blue pouch containing my rain suit. A straightforward jacket with pants that even Karlie Kloss would look clumsy in.

You understand, I never actually wore that. I'd rather walk around all day in a sticky pair of jeans. There are just limits in a teenager's life. Since then, I've never worn a rain suit again, the thought! Although it always seems to rain really hard on Monday mornings when I take my whole posse to school. To stay dry, I then get all complicated with umbrellas, which is life-threatening for those around me. Sticking out eye, anyone?

But, but, but, I have now found something that actually makes me look forward to autumn. Rain jackets from HEMA. They are tailored, in incredibly fashionable yellow (matches great with my Claes Iversen dress) and printed with cheerful droplets that also reflect when a light shines on them (so safe in the dark). I immediately bought four (they are available at HEMA starting today), so if you see a bunch of cheerful, yellow types passing by who are happy that it’s raining: it’s us!
