WHAT TO PACK FOR PARIS

“I thought you were only going to be in Paris for three days…” My dad dropped me off at the Thalys and though that the size of my suitcase was not in line with the length of my trip. “It’s Fashion week. That means I need at least two outfits a day, four pairs of shoes and three different bags.” He still looked clueless but I forgave him.

My suitcase is filled with an ankle length skirt from Cathrine Hammel, an exclusive label that you can buy at one of my favorite stores in the Netherlands, PAUW. I plan on wearing it with my Prada biker boots, but it works well with pumps or sneakers too. But it’ll take a few years before you’ll catch me wearing it with sneakers. On top I plan on matching it with a sweater with pretty zippers on the side and a leather jacket.

For day number two (today) I have a purplish pink skirt from Dries van Noten on the menu which I will combine with my Marni-sweater and top it off with a short, blue double breasted jacket. Since the motto during fashion week is “more is more” I plan on topping off the outfit with my turquoise Gucci heels.

This evening I’m going to opt for an Odeeh pair of trousers (which you might remember from my trip to Milan) but paired with a different top this time round.

Then there are a few brushes, my makeup bag, a jacket, and something to sleep in that filled up the rest of my bag. Although there is a teeny tiny extra bit of space to return home with some presents for everyone staying at the home front. And perhaps a bit of room for something new for myself…

WHAT TO PACK FOR PARIS

“I thought you were only going to be in Paris for three days…” My dad dropped me off at the Thalys and thought that the size of my suitcase was not in line with the length of my trip. “It’s Fashion week, Kiek. That means at least two outfits a day, four pairs of shoes and three bags.” I saw that he didn’t understand and forgave him.

In the suitcase is an ankle-length skirt from Cathrine Hammel, a very exclusive Norwegian label that is ‘just’ available at PAUW. I’m going to wear it with my Prada biker boots, but it’s also great with pumps or sneakers. For Jet and Joss then. I still need a few years of maturation before I dare to do that. On top a sweater with nice zippers on the side and a leather jacket.

For day two, a purple-pink embellished skirt from Dries van Noten is on the program which I combine with a Marni sweater and finish off with a short, blue double-breasted jacket. Because during fashion week the motto is ‘more is more’, I’m adding turquoise Gucci shoes underneath. All from the company PAUW. The shoes are from Shoebaloo.

’In the evening I’m going for the tried and tested recipe of the Odeeh trousers with a top, although I’ve chosen a different print this time.

Then a few brushes, my makeup bag, a jacket, something to sleep in, and something for my behind and it’s full. Although there is still a tiny bit of space for some presents for the home front and maybe a sneaky and cautious new purchase…
