WHAT TO DO THIS WEEKEND

by Theo Bakana

It's the weekend again! And what a weekend it is! Amsterdam is turned upside down because of the Amsterdam Dance Event, which I think the whole country has come out for. Are you not so good with those dance moves or do you not quite know where to go? No worries, we will help you!

Audio Obscura presents Maceo Plex x Rijksmuseum

Sounds like a mouthful, but in my opinion, this is the party of ADE. You have to be quick (and tickets might be hard to get), but this is definitely one for the books. Everyone knows the tunnel at the Rijksmuseum, one of the most fun spots in Amsterdam to bike through, but tonight that won't be possible because it is closed off as Maceo Plex will be providing a four-hour DJ set here. It also just shows how progressive the Rijks is as a museum. Tickets are therefore very scarce, but I will just join the crowd for the tunnel. See you there?

By the way, Marion has already gathered all the other parties that are ADE worth visiting.

AWAY Spa

This is the perfect place if all the ADE madness is just a bit too much for you. Or if you just feel like a lovely day of relaxation. AWAY Spa is located in the newly renovated W Amsterdam. This might require a bit of explanation. The W has been around for a while, but two weeks ago the BANK building was festively opened (this is the building opposite the W), which is now part of the hotel. Here you will find, among other things, the coolest gallery X Bank. I already talked about X BANK last week. But now there is also the AWAY Spa. Elke has already taken a look and says she has never been pampered like this before. So do you want to de-stress or do you just want to see one of the most beautiful spas in Amsterdam from the inside? You know where to go.

Goat Farm in the Amsterdam Forest

Doesn't sound very sexy, but believe me: this will make you happy and it's again a good place when you don't feel like the busy city. The Goat Farm is located in the middle of the Amsterdam Forest and is a paradise for animal lovers. For people with a city mindset (like me), it can take some acclimatization. But once you get through that, you will enjoy feeding the little goats, a toastie with, yes, goat cheese, or a delicious soft ice cream made from goat's milk, bet?

Let’s YouTube

YouTube is booming, and the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum thought so too. Their latest exhibition is entirely dedicated to this online medium. Here you can learn about the history of YouTube, make your own videos, and there are changing themes determined by famous YouTubers. Be sure to bring your little niece, as this exhibition is fun for all ages.

The Fish Toko

For food advice, I consulted our friends at FavorFlav and they recommended The Fish Toko . Quite new and serves the tastiest fish in many different ways. And they just launched a new five-course menu for only 30 euros. Do I need to say more? I'm going to make a reservation.

So who am I high-fiving this weekend on the dance floor to then give a goat the bottle together? Sounds fun to me. And if you have nice tips: theo@amayzine.com.
