LET'S TALK ABOUT THAT #SPON
We'd like to say a few things about it
The #spon, there's something about it. I only really see it come up as a reaction to someone's Instagram posts from, excusez, cheeky followers. I often get hit with it too. If I'm enthusiastic about something and tag a brand, I can bet my Chanel bag that I'll get a bit of #spon as a response. (Here by the way, we wrote about the most annoying hashtags on Instagram.)
Like the other day. I wrote that at the Conservatorium Hotel (yes, that hotel with the fantastic spa) there is a valet service for cars and a rack for the hotel's own bikes that guests can use. But they are of course not an ordinary bike storage. Still, I was allowed to hand over my own bike, how chic, to the valet guy. I posted about it and sure enough, I was immediately treated to a #spon. Well, it's not like I was paid for this. They don't even have that service. It was just a nice incident. At least, that's what I thought.
It's not like everything you mention is paid content, is it? That would be something. And if I don't tell where I am or what I'm wearing, details are asked for. Liesbeth recently posted a photo of herself at the Zorgvlied cemetery. It was Mother's Day and she had found her way to commemorate her mother. Do you know what one of the responses was? Which brand her dress was from. Someone seriously asked that. Okeeeee.
”If you don't tell where you are and what you're wearing, then people will ask for it later”
In short, you can't do it right quickly. If you don't tell where you are and what you're wearing, then people will ask for it later. What I understand, I like to share my addresses and labels with you. But if I do, I'm accused as if I'm not owning up to a paid post.
And if it were paid, what would be the big problem? It is now insinuated that if it is paid, it would be less sincere. That's what I gather a bit. While we weigh all the brands we work with extensively. I don't want to pull anything over your eyes, you are far too nice and smart for that. A paid party should actually be Amayzine-worthy. Moreover, a reader should be very happy with an occasional paid post, because that allows us to do our work and you can read ten fresh pieces on Amayzine.com for free every day.
Moreover, I always honestly indicate when it is a paid contribution. But I like to do that in a slightly more creative way than by using that hashtag ‘spon’. Because we want to avoid being predictable. Not even in our hashtags.
