WELL-BEING IS the NEW LUXURY
Money, power, as quickly as possible a flashy job: for a long time, it was actually what you (unconsciously) thought you ‘needed’ to be ‘successful’ in life. With six designer bags, but especially a busy-busy-busy career that you could brag about during a drink, a fancy car, and a nice apartment with a view, everything would surely be fine with you. In fact, it was fine with you.
No more, no more! Because man, man, man, what a relentlessly rushing train without an end. It's just impossible to keep up. Not even if you start running.
MOEHAAAHAHAHAA okay sorry I just needed to let off some steam.
But all jokes aside: in my opinion, it's time to take the time for life. Because let's be honest: how often do you lie in bed at night feeling like you just can't take it anymore? That you could collapse at any moment? How often do you even remember what you did that week on a Friday? How often do you hear yourself say that you are ’busy busy busy‘? Because you are working hard towards something, but you don't even know what anymore? How often do you wish there were suddenly 48 hours in a day? I can't take it anymore. I'm done with being busy and would like life to slow down a bit. I want it to be about how I feel in this life, instead of my story outwardly, and how busy I am. From now on, I will choose what feels good, for more time and space, for my own well-being, for what my heart tells me. Well-being is my new luxury!
Mahatma Gandhi also has something to say about it: “Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions become your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny.”
“Well-being is my new luxury!”
Look, I understand that you have to get your money from somewhere. We can't just fish it out of the river with a fishing rod. So work must and will be done. And of course, nice things are always nice. But for me, no more busy hysterical top job – or striving for one. Yes, then I might spend a little less, then just ‘simply’ type a few pieces because I just enjoy that. Because it makes me happy. Because I feel good about it. Because in that way, I also have space for other important things in life. Because otherwise, I would just go crazy.
I want to experience the beauty of life more (okay, you can finally go get a basin now). Moreover, I see more and more people around me who have the same wish or strive for the same thing. And um, I find people who are happy and balanced and okay with themselves much more interesting than people who are always busy-busy-busy and scoring well on the career ladder. If you ask me, it's much more about being in balance, being happy with what you do, and feeling good. Will you join me?
