WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH THE EUROVISION SONG CONTEST WITH TWITTER

Oh guys, tonight (and hopefully Saturday night) it's happening. The Song Contest! What a delight. What a pleasure. I've been looking forward to it for days. And don't think: that woman is CRAZY, what has she swallowed? But I'm watching the Song Contest with Twitter. Believe me, you will really lose it. Mocking is the norm, preferably as funny and as wrong as possible. It's really a wonderful second screen, especially if you follow these people.

1. Twitter queen Sylvia Witteman (@sylviawitteman) is already in the mood. ‘What do you actually drink while watching the Song Contest? Jip and Janneke champagne? Aperol Spritz? Crème de menthe?’

2. Sharpshooter Korneel Evers (@Korneel_Evers) was already counting down the minutes six hours ago. Still 691 minutes until showtime! ‪#wewordenwereldkampioen ‪#esf

3. Cécile Narinx (@cecilenarinx), editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar, is razor-sharp and witty, just like during the Song Contest. Last year (about the Belgian entry): ‘That Belgian rascal can stay up so late!’

4. Rik van de Westelaken (@rikvdwestelaken) wasn't there last year due to vacation, but this year we are counting on him. In 2014: ‘If Conchita looks so dramatic every time, I will withdraw my points.’

5. @teamdouwe is the official Song Contest Twitter of AVROTROS. Definitely follow. It's good for the balance. Oh, and also follow commentator Jan Smit (@jansmit) right away.

“After the leak of the video of Douwe Bob's performance by the Russians: ‘Leaking Russians... it feels like the Cold War here....”

6. Nynke de Jong (@nynke) ‘writes and does things’ and delivered the following pen fruit last year: ‘Just piercing my eardrums with two fondue forks. ‪#esf.’ She is currently very pregnant and hopes she can stay awake, but we say: what must be, must be. This morning she already guessed the fantastic Volkskrant Song Contest Bingo relationship.

7. Jan de Hoop (@JandeHoop) tweeted last year: ‘Out of solidarity, I also put on my pantsuit #esf #esf15’

8. Cornald Maas (@cornaldm) you should definitely follow, because that man is just a hero in providing better background information and really knows EVERYTHING about the Song Contest.

9. Georgina Verbaan (@GVerbaan). Check this tweet from last year: ‘What a great dress she is wearing.’ And that 'z' is not a typo.

10. And columnist Luuk Koelman (@LuukKoelman) wrote: ‘Disabled people always do well. Next year we really need to send a homosexual albino black person with an open back. ‪#esf15’

11. Journalist Lammert de Bruijn (@lammert) is also a classic. After the leak of de video Douwe Bob's performance by the Russians: ‘Leaking Russians... it feels like the Cold War....'.

In short, I'm already ready with a glass of cola and my own (!) bag of chips. And yes, Nico Dijkshoorn (@dijkshoorn) should of course also be on this list, but he is performing tonight with Tim Knol in the Roode Bioscoop. Everyone has their thing.
