10x why it is nice to come home
Really not that the Whispering Angel got on my nerves and also not that I was done with water skiing and lying on a soft bed in a temperature of 25 degrees. Really not, but still coming home was nice. And for these reasons. In random order.
1. The newspapers
Really not that I’m going to sift through them all retroactively (after all, I’m not Frits Barend), but I always find it a cozy sight, a table full of newspapers. I browse through them a bit and pick out my favorites.
2. Nespresso
I can already look forward to that on the plane. Such a perfect latte macchiato from my own machine with my favorite flavor. What turned out... out. Out. OUT. Rushed to Huize van Wely to grab a strip.
3. Our MAGAZINE
So suddenly, well, not suddenly suddenly, we had really worked hard on it, polished and tinkered, in the store. I arrived at Schiphol and hurried to the AKO. There it was, you know. If you don’t know what to do with your five euros; tip: this magazine is really nice. If I may say so myself.
4. Your perfumes
When traveling, I only take one scent with me, but how wonderful to dive back into Santal 33 from Le Labo at home. And finish it off with a shot of Molecules, because that bottle was also too big to take with me.
5. And the clothes
Call me a fanatic or sick in my head, but I can really miss my clothes. I always feel, despite a lot of practice, that I’m not a perfect packer. I think every day; this would have been really nice here. And that bag too. Because a person really takes four pairs of shoes in the suitcase, this time it stayed with one bag.
6. Your loved ones
Asking if your parents can come a bit earlier, lighting the fireplace (because it’s cold) and opening your favorite wine.
“I struggled through a wall of packages this morning.”
7. The Dutch beach
A day like Saturday, such an endless beach day at the widest beach in the vicinity. Only the water is still a bit chilly on the toes, but who cares.
8. Your animals
I don’t have (any) animals myself yet, but that ride to the dog hotel or the friends who took care of them and then that ecstatic dog biting your hair and ears from happiness in your arms, that feeling...
9. The packages
I struggled through a wall of packages this morning. The new brushes from Chanel, a brow set from Benefit, clothes from Manila Grace and so on.
10. Nice typing
Hugging colleagues, hearing that chef Adeline finally has an apartment nearby, planning a new event and opening the laptop to write beautiful things for you. I’m looking forward to it.
