5 tips for make-up with glasses
I don't find make-up difficult, and neither do I find glasses. I wear both. But together? Most of the time, I just skip the fuss. You can't see my artistic work anyway, I thought. Because make-up artist Amanda Rijff showed me that glasses and make-up are a good match. I immediately gathered five tips for the glasses wearers among us that actually work.
1. The eyelash curler is your BFF
Do you reject half of your glasses because your eyelashes flutter against the lens? You don't have to. Always make sure to position them correctly before applying mascara, and you can pull off any pair of glasses. Voilà, a world of frames opens up for you.
2. A tightline creates that eye look
Okay, Amanda did this on me, and I haven't left the house without it since. If you apply a line of kohl along the lash line on the inside of your eyelid, your gaze appears more open. Super handy if you feel like your eyes disappear behind a frame (or if you're a disaster with eyeliner).
3. A red lip suits retro
I always thought: glasses, no bold lip. But that's nonsense. A pair of glasses with color plus that cool colored lip. This way, the rest of your face doesn't fade away, and they keep each other nicely colorful in balance.
4. Color is the most, most, most important
Do you have a plus? Then you want those eyes to go a bit further back. Do you have a minus? Then they need to come forward. Remember this: dark goes back, light and shine come forward. By the way, with those dark shades, make sure to apply just above the brow bone, because otherwise, you'll achieve the opposite. And another trick if your eyes need to pop: apply a light shine on the waterline. This way, your eyes will really stand out.
5. Give your brows that wow
A pair of glasses and brows really create a wow. Together, they make your face truly speak. Make sure to choose one or two shades lighter for your eyebrows to enhance them. And don't forget to pluck if you have glasses with a plus; as you know, that makes them look bigger.
