5 top cities to travel to alone
(Yep, all alone then)
Traveling alone and exploring the world is the new black. Everyone wants to do it, and if you're a bit cool, you do it too. Now I'm just glad that I have my panic attacks under control on the plane somewhat under control, but flying to the other side of the globe alone? Hell no. But it's definitely on my fuck-it list. One day. How about you? Good. Then let's start with a little orientation and Airbnb just released a list of the most popular cities for solo wanderlusts...
1. Busan, South Korea
Since last year, the number of solo trips to Busan (south of Seoul) has increased by a whopping 103 percent. Why? Let me mention the impressive skylines, mountains, and of course the must-see cherry blossom season in spring. Bloggers, eat your heart out.
2. Auckland, New Zealand
Okay, yes, you have to sit on a plane for a bit. But then you arrive at the perfect snorkeling and surfing beaches ever. Solo bookings to Auckland increased by 114 percent this year.
3. Johannesburg, South Africa
The solo traveler seems to love crossing this way, bookings for an Airbnb with a single bed increased by 135 percent compared to last year. I would say: stay on the good side of the colossal metropolis (away from the slums) and traveling alone is amazing there. The largest city in South Africa is full of chic restaurants, shops, and trendy cocktail bars.
4. Cologne, Germany
Checked Berlin and Munich off your list? Right, then it's time for Cologne. The city is best known for its rich culture, museums, and beautiful buildings. Plenty to do while you're alone.
5. Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
Better known as Saigon. Also known as: the backpackers' paradise. Big advantage: you're there for less than 24 hours or you've definitely made two or three friends because all those solo travelers around you are also looking for some fun. Who talks about traveling alone when the world is your friend? On y va!
