5X HEALTHY INTO A NEW WEEK
Good morning, ladies. Tomorrow starts a brand new week, with good intentions, so it's time for a tip. This little piece of text is for the Amayzers who during the week, after work:
1. don't feel like cooking
2. don't have time to cook
3. don't have a kitchen (also applies to the weekend)
4. can't cook
5. are queens at making excuses
Here comes the magical answer to all of this: on Sunday you will meal prep, so during the week you only need to heat up your meal or toss it together and dump it on a plate. You do need to dive into the (or a) kitchen on Sunday. It will work out, whether it's your mom's, your partner's, a friend's, a neighbor's, or just your own. Just saying, right?
1. Bake a cake
Around four o'clock, one of your editors sneaks over to the neighbors to sneak back in with a bowl of KitKats, chocolate wreaths, or butter crackers. And yes, there are those who can resist this, but not everyone. And don’t get me wrong, snacking is allowed because we all have that afternoon slump. But that snacking can also be healthy. Bake a banana cake or a healthy carrot cake on Sunday and cut it into equal slices. All of them into a plastic zip bag and you can take a nice snack to work every day. Those bags can also go in the freezer, so you always have a fresh snack at home.
2. Prep your breakfasts
You can easily make oatmeal a few days in advance. And that slice of cake I just mentioned can also be used as breakfast. A dab of nut butter on top or some banana slices and you're done. And if you slide a big batch of granola into the oven at once, it saves you time in the morning. Divide some yogurt into a few containers and your breakfast to go can easily slide into your bag. Leaving the house without breakfast is not a good idea. Skipping breakfast causes you to have snack attacks at the end of the day. And then you will indeed reach for those butter crackers.
3. Cook your main ingredient
On Sunday, make multiple portions of rice, quinoa, or another type of grain and divide that into containers. You can do the same with your vegetables, of course. On the day itself, you only need to heat it up or make a salad out of it. Ready in ten minutes.
4. Just a little about that craving
What also works well against that craving at four o'clock is a handful of unsalted nuts. Just swing by the nut shop on Saturday and divide your nuts into a few bags. Off you go, those go into your work bag too.
5. Chop till you drop
Got ripe fruit lying in your fruit bowl? Don't throw it away, girlfriend, chop your fruit into pieces, divide them into equal bags, and put them in the fridge or freezer. Blend it in the morning and voilà: within five minutes, you have a fresh smoothie in front of you.
And now don't say you don't have time anymore. You’re welcome, Kiki.
