DESTINATION DREAMLIFE
She said YES
We scoot together through the busy traffic to the factory in Denpasar. Although, you can cross out the word fast, because Bali traffic is crazy. Sidewalk up, sidewalk down, overtaking, braking, honking... We take all the back roads so we don't spend hours in traffic. We're excited on the scooter, it can't go fast enough for us, because we all have cool designs for the new collection of our We Like Bali shop, including a new winter sweater and a few secret items we're working on (we'll tell you soon, hihi). The girls from KYND (that cute vegan café with the pink wall from our previous column) have also asked if they can design a collab T-shirt with us. We're going to sell these at KYND and in our webshop, super fun. We meet at our factory about the new productions, then we drive to Xich Lo for a quick lunch, a lovely Vietnamese spot with a view of the rice fields, so beautiful! Our fave? The vegetarian Pho & Rice Paper Rolls.
After a busy but productive week, we drive to Bingin Beach on Friday evening with the five of us. That's our favorite weekend getaway in the south of Bali, a place where we regularly escape the hustle and bustle of the city. ‘We’ are Eve and Yenny with our driver Made (because we have, as usual, way too much stuff), and Stephen, Kim, and Pris with the surfboards on the motorbike. This time we are staying at The Sunshine Houses, a new villa that will be rented out starting next week, a nice scoop for all our We Like Bali followers and a lovely (and Instagrammable) stay for us. When we arrive, we can't believe our eyes. Wow, the most beautiful (and largest) villa ever! We have a dinner craving for Rolling Fork, a delicious Italian restaurant around the corner from Padang Padang Beach. Afterwards, we all lie in food coma and go to bed early.
Early birds that we are, we are already up at 7:00 AM on Saturday (we have a kind of new-day FOMO and can never sleep in) and start the day with laps (and cannonballs to wake the others up, hehe) in the 18-meter long pool. The sun is already burning on our skin and the sound of singing birds and crickets makes us feel wonderfully relaxed. It's going to be a beautiful day. Stephen sets up a circuit for a morning workout. We are enthusiastic athletes and prefer to do something every day. Eve does barre class and Pris surfs. The feeling of having nothing on your mind, feeling good in your body, and sweating everything out is really what we love the most. Working out is really a daily must for us. After the workout, breakfast is ready for us in the villa. What a life, huh, we always pinch ourselves at moments like this.
Today we are shooting Instagram collabs all day in the house and on the beach (five minutes from the villa), from Gooseberry Seaside bikinis to Faithfull the Brand dresses to Bali Body tanning oil. Well, that tanning went well; after a whole day in the sun, we look like chocolate brownies, and a little crunchy too! We end the day with a beautiful sunset at Bingin Beach, our favorite sunset spot.
’In the evening, Peloton, the (very first) best vegan café in Berawa Canggu from our good friends Madi & Tom, celebrates its two-year anniversary. We jumped on the scooter to sing ‘happy birthday’, eat a (vegan) cake, and dance. By the way, we come here almost every day. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner fix; everything is really delicious.
Sunday turned out to be a very special day. A day that you will forever hold in your heart. It started with a surf session at Bingin Beach, then breakfast together in the villa, and our friend Mary and her son Makena also came by for a visit. We had a great time, eating, laughing, taking photos, and then after lunch, we went to Uluwatu. The weekends are quite busy here, but we still managed to find a spot where no one was. We did have to carry all our stuff over the rocks through the water. Only with good timing of low tide can you reach this hidden beach at Suluban Beach. Oh, how beautiful it is there, so idyllic! Blue Lagoon has nothing on it.
”Supposedly a romantic getaway to relax together...”
Eve and Stephen left at the end of the day for Karma Kandara, one of the most beautiful dream hotels on the cliff in Ungasan (in South Bali). At Karma Beach (a super beautiful private beach club where you can chill all day on the most beautiful beach ever, definitely do this when you're in Bali), Eve and Stephen had their first date seven years ago, so it's a place they regularly visit. This time, Stephen booked a private villa with an infinity pool (sigh). Supposedly a romantic getaway to relax together... which took a very different turn than Eve thought!
Under the clear starry sky, at the top of the cliff with nothing but the sound of the ocean, Stephen proposed to Eve! Yaaaaaa! YES YES YES YES was of course Eve's answer. Wow wow wow wow. What an incredible surprise, high on love. Adrenaline rush. Is this real? Everything came out: an outburst of love, happiness, emotions, tears... No words can describe this moment and this feeling. Meeting the man of your dreams in Bali (he was literally the very first person we saw when we walked out of the airport) and now, after seven years together... ENGAGED! Eve is a future wifey for lifey. We still can't grasp it. We are getting MARRIEEEEEEED!
Pris was eagerly waiting for the good news, because she was secretly already aware! Including FOMO, because yes, she would have loved to film this, of course, haha. We call, we cry, how intensely happy we are. All the details about the proposal are shared with the girls and as a cherry on the (wedding) cake, we surprise Eve with an engagement celebration dinner at Kilo, with veil and sparkling bouquet. Ready for the real deal, haha! What an evening again. So much love. We are still enjoying this love bubble and will keep you updated on our Bali life next time.
Let LOVE rule!
Sea you next week island lovers,
xoxo
Pris & Eve
