For hours on end, I can drool online staring at all the beautiful new collections for the upcoming season. The big downside: it often takes another six months to a year before the items are actually for sale. That's why the ‘see now, buy now’ concept is completely made for me: right after a collection presentation, you can already order the items. LOVE. IT. So when I received the ‘see now, buy now’ invite for the new H&M Studio SS17 collection, I was more than excited. Tonight at 9:30 PM, the exclusive show will be streamed from Paris, and then you have to quickly get your must-haves into your shopping bag. This lovely bohemian look is also part of it, and I can't wait to admire, uh, directly buy the rest of the collection!
One of the first things I look at in a woman is her jewelry. Not to see if there's enough bling-bling, quite the opposite: jewelry is always a beautiful reflection of someone's personality. Because every piece of jewelry you wear carries a special story. An heirloom, a gift from a loved one, or just a gift to yourself to remember a special moment. And in that last category falls my newest and perhaps most special piece of jewelry. I designed this beautiful necklace together with NOUS jewelry when I found out I was expecting. The beautiful stone in the middle is an uncut, ‘natural’ diamond, which represents the pure, new life that is on its way. And around that raw diamond are small diamonds that will always protect it. Hopefully, one day he can pass this necklace on as an heirloom to the next generation, and this piece of jewelry will become even richer in meaning...
Now, I'm not really a drinker, but I have to admit: I do miss a good glass of wine or bubbles every now and then! Especially during the lovely dinners at my parents‘ house where the most beautiful bottles of wine are always present, it can be a bit hard to swallow. And that water or glass of iced tea quickly gets old, I can tell you. So my search for the most acceptable non-alcoholic wine has begun. Well, it will never taste like the real deal, but it does feel cozier when you have the same glass and a similar drink in front of you. For all the pregnant ladies: I have sacrificed myself to filter out all the this-does-not-taste-like-wine-but-more-like-watery-grape-juice-with-weird-aftertaste bottles and tell you directly that the ’Win 0.0 Wines' from Wijnvoordeel is the absolute best option! Well, for those nine months anyway...
For long flights, I always take a small skin rescue kit in my handbag. Halfway through the flight, my face always feels like a dried-up raisin, and there's nothing more refreshing than such a hydrating cream in a small tube. When I received these lovely A/N/G eye masks, I didn't know how quickly I had to put them in my flight kit: the pads contain skin-native collagen fibers that make your tired look disappear like snow in the sun. My fellow passengers on the plane looked at me a bit strangely when I applied those two white pads under my eyes, but coincidentally, I then walked into LAX Airport as if I had just stepped off a six-day cruise through the Caribbean! Who wants to be beautiful must dare to look a little silly sometimes...
Day one in Los Angeles is over, and it feels like we never left. Two years ago, we were here for eight weeks because Jon was writing ‘Bella Donna's’, and now we're back to shoot the last scenes of that film: how cool! Now my participation in the film is long over, so while the rest was hard at work today, I could enjoy exploring the city. One of the loveliest things here, I find, is the number of (good!) beauty salons where you can walk in without an appointment and enjoy a mani and pedi for just 25 dollars. No wonder all those ladies here always walk around with perfect nails! Also very noticeable is the number of blow dry bars in town for a perfect hairstyle that lasts for days: such a visit is still on my wishlist for the coming week. Not only the film crew has a killer schedule, as you can read...
