Now that ‘the end’ is approaching, my belly is getting bigger by the day... And secretly I had hoped that by this time I could easily dress my baby belly with flowy summer dresses and lovely sandals. Well, think again. My winter coats are still hanging on the coat rack and my feet remain comfortably covered in comfy sneakers. So when I finally got to wrap myself in summery scenes for the Viva Mama shoot last week, I couldn't be stopped! I would never go out on the street with such a bare belly, but man oh man, it felt liberating to wear those airy outfits for an afternoon. This dress from Patrizia Pepe was immediately my ultimate favorite with beautiful sandals from Fratelli Rossetti. Maybe the sun will still make an appearance before the end of June and this outfit can still be ordered?
You can't start music education for your little one early enough. Especially with my husband being an incredibly good singer, guitarist, and composer (what can't he do?! Sigh...) and a mother who can carry a tune, music becomes an important part of his upbringing. So I often listen to classical music in the car and at home you hear country music through the speakers interspersed with classics like Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder. And as a big R&B/soul fan, mom was front row shaking ‘that thing’ at Sean Paul last week, which by the way can still be done with such a baby belly. Yesterday, John Mayer's concert was on the menu; just like his father and mother, the little man couldn't sit still for a second and it felt like there was a big party going on in my belly. I'm so curious if he will react to songs he has heard a lot over the past months!
‘For anyone trying to reach me tomorrow: this mommy to be is taking a day off at home.’
What do I do first when I get through customs at Schiphol? Buy magazines! And not just one, no, a gigantic stack of ‘fashionably responsible’ reading material to read from front to back on my beach chair: heeeerlijk. And the best part is making little ear marks on the pages where a must-have or must-see is mentioned. The result: at the end of the vacation, I go home with a thick package of torn-out pages with the intention of doing something with them, which of course rarely comes to fruition... And now that I'm just back from my very last trip before my due date (I already got comments on Instagram asking if I still knew where my house was...), the new Amayzine magazine comes out today! Long live the nesting urge, which allows me to comfortably nest at home on the couch for a day to devour this new issue. For anyone trying to reach me tomorrow: this mommy to be is taking a day off at home.
“No way, you really don't need to buy baby shoes, they get kicked off in no time and socks are much more practical.” Now I should of course wisely listen to this advice, but to be honest: how can I resist all those too cute baby shoes?! In America, it already went wrong at the Ralph Lauren store and without hesitation, two mini-exemplars came home with me. And when I discovered the shoes from Donsje, there was no turning back... The coolest baby shoes in animal designs, one cuter than the other. I had to have this little lion pair and this Amsterdam version with canal houses on them is almost a work of art! And if he kicks them off continuously: oh well, they also look beautiful on the shelf as decoration, right?
