Just a few more days and our fantastic trip will be over. We truly had the most beautiful honeymoon we could wish for! And of course, the whole journey became even more beautiful thanks to that growing little miracle in my belly... We are already fantasizing about how we will someday take him to this environment. A location we definitely want to visit again is Yosemite National Park, and then we will stay at the Evergreen Lodge. It's located right in the woods, has a beautiful swimming pool and a lovely restaurant, and I spotted the most beautiful sunset there ever. Have I convinced you to book a ticket there as soon as possible?
‘I decided to put all organizational mania aside and, just like my husband, fully experience our trip in the moment.’
Funny enough, we set zero point zero in advance regarding the route we would take. Quite a miracle for someone who even plans a visit to the Amsterdamse Bos in detail a week in advance... But I decided to put all organizational mania aside and, just like my husband, fully experience our trip in the moment. The result: a beautiful route that we could never have mapped out in advance. We even get questions on Instagram about which travel agency we booked this trip with. I feel a new business coming up: ‘Karthaus Reizen’ is now open!
Despite all the long hikes and nature adventures ahead, I had to reserve space in my suitcase for some fashionable footwear alongside my sturdy hiking shoes. Now, with such a new purchase, I always look forward to the first ‘wear moment’. Upon seeing these fantastic Eureka Shoes, I knew immediately: they are coming along on the trip in the box to be shown for the first time in the USA. But for the first few weeks, it seemed like my comfy Timberlands would never come off with all that snow and hiking trails through the mountains. Luckily, we end our trip in LA, so I couldn't wait to pull my fashion outfits out of the suitcase upon arrival to finally show them off. This footwear is not coming off in the coming days!
‘I didn't know how quickly I had to pull
my fashion outfits out of the suitcase upon arrival.’
And of course, those killer shoes come with matching outfits. After an afternoon of googling for fashionable maternity clothing, I almost gave up until I typed Asos into my screen again. I truly couldn't believe my eyes! A huge maternity collection that I could have personally designed: pages filled with the cutest dresses, tankinis in the coolest prints, and skinny jeans with a high elastic band. Within five minutes, my shopping cart was filled with items worth a hefty month's salary... What was that saying again? “Everything you send into the cosmos, you get back threefold.” That surely applies to your spending pattern, right?!
Now, there are of course a lot of things to criticize about America, but after a month ‘intern’, I would like to integrate a few points into our own country. Point 1: whether you stay in a four-star hotel or a motel along the highway; all rooms are equipped with top-quality queen-size beds. @Ibis and @Van der Valk, are you paying attention? Point 2: every restaurant, hip or not, serves almond milk and coconut milk. In supermarkets, you even find large packs of coconut milk, and I don't mean those thick concentrated cans that we only know. @AH, maybe a gap in the market? Point 3: the tortilla wrap is the new sandwich. Everywhere you go, you find a huge selection of wraps on the menu. I am especially a huge fan of the breakfast variant: scrambled eggs, spinach, tomato, avocado, some grated goat cheese, and voilà: the most complete breakfast to go. So don't be surprised if you see me loading carts full of whole grain wraps next week...
