Last week, the KPN series ‘Brussel’ premiered and it certainly did not go unnoticed... You couldn't open a newspaper or turn on a current affairs program without it being about the new ‘prestige project’ by writer Leon de Winter. I was secretly quite nervous to watch the first episodes in a room full of important people from the industry. Especially when a series is already presented in advance as ‘grand’ and ‘different from everything else’, this can work against you. The verdict: many positive reports afterwards and a hunger for more episodes! So far, so good.
Everyone around me knows by now that you can't make me happier than with a large buffet of desserts. So when there's something to celebrate, a high tea XXL is reserved as soon as possible. Luckily, I have Marly as my partner in crime and together we have tested countless high teas in Amsterdam. So far, our big favorite is The Waldorf: all the snacks are homemade and a lot more original than the usual high tea platter. But soon we will continue our research and ‘Gartine’ and ‘The Duchess’ are on the agenda. All tips for new discoveries are welcome, we gladly offer ourselves to test them for you!
The night before a premiere, colleague girlfriends often call me in a panic asking if they can borrow something from my closet. And of course, I always gladly help these lovely ladies out. Usually, I have so many premiere outfits hanging that I only check what I will wear an hour beforehand. ‘You really need to do styling more often, you know,’ said my friend Sarah Chronis recently. So when I was asked for a Flair cover shoot, I put on my brave shoes and emailed that I would do my own styling. But now I still have to make it happen... I'm secretly quite proud of the end result: I'm curious what you all think of it!
And this week, another new shoot was scheduled for Grazia. Many actresses find photo shoots really terrible, but I always look forward to such a crazy fashion shoot: besides all the beautiful creations I get to wear, I secretly enjoy pretending to be a model. I basically just act my way through it hoping that I played my role with enough dedication. And luckily, so far, that's going quite well for me. During the shoot, I didn't know this yet, because otherwise I would have experienced that moment a bit more consciously: this is my last shoot in a new collection from Avelon, sob... But luckily, over the years, I have amassed quite a collection from them, so I can always fall back on the items from my own closet. And that will definitely happen!
Jon had barely landed from Curaçao for five hours, or there was already a new trip planned. On the occasion of the Audrey Hepburn X Givenchy exhibition in The Hague, Jon and I got a sneak peek at Hotel Des Indes in my ‘hometown’ The Hague. We were welcomed with a delightful high tea in Audrey Hepburn style (for the attentive reader: yep, my second high tea this week...) and a selection of beautiful photos of Mrs. Hepburn and Mr. Givenchy. As if that wasn't enough of a party, we also got to stay the night! Like two little kids, we jumped in our bathrobes on the big bed and could already look forward to breakfast in bed the next morning. A perfect start to our week!
