COOKBOOK SHOPPING
Do you know that feeling? You hear a song on the radio, get hooked immediately, and play it for weeks on end until you're sick of it. Well, that's exactly how I feel about cookbooks. I have Jamie periods, Gwyneth periods, and My New Roots also manages to take up a few weeks of my time regularly. I cook from the same cookbook for weeks, put it away, and then leave that copy alone for a few weeks. Now and then, it's time for a fresh breeze in my bookshelf. A few nice new titles have come out, and of course, I love to share them with you, my friends.
1. All-day breakfast – Denise Kortlever
Ah, that title sounds like a nice tune in my ears. Because: breakfast, all day every day. Denise was inspired for this breakfast and brunch book by the many breakfast dishes she tasted around the world. For the busy bee who has no time, there are quick smoothie-to-go recipes, and for the breakfast-in-bed lovers, there are super comfy recipes like French toast. Got a hangover? A hefty stack of American pancakes works wonders. I could breakfast all day with the creamy porridge with coconut milk and roasted almonds. I did say: enjoy breakfast all day.
2. Bowls of Goodness – Nina Olsson
The website nourishatelier.com has been at the top of my favorites for a long time. And now, finally, Nina (founder) is finally releasing a book. So I'm already a fan, you get that. In ‘Bowls of Goodness’, you are overwhelmed by delicious vegetarian and vegan recipes. When I say spinach mushroom baked rice bowls, do you run to the store?
3. Simply daytox – Kyra de Vreeze
In ‘Simply daytox’, Kyra de Vreeze shows you how to bring calm into your busy life on all levels, among other things by preparing simple dishes. With the help of the seven-day eating and living program ‘Simply daytox’, you learn to bring more calm into your busy life. It helps you simplify your life, slow it down, and create space through yoga exercises, simple and plant-based dishes. Bring on a stack, I'll manage to lose them...
4. Tips van Jet – Jet van Nieuwkerk
Last week, I was at the table with Jet. While ‘The Book of Jet’ had just landed on my bookshelf (okay, it's been a few months, but you know what I mean), the attractive Jet is already coming out with another book. In this book, Jet gives you 100 tips to start the new year. A happy and healthy life, not too strict and definitely not boring. Just as we expect from Jet.
5. Life in Balance – Donna Hay
I love Donna Hay's books. My mother once started collecting Donna's books, and now a few beautiful copies also adorn my own bookshelf. In her latest cookbook, you learn to cook with only unprocessed and fresh ingredients. Besides numerous recipes, there is a lot of information about superfoods like vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts.
6. Puur Pascale – Pascale Naessens
I love Pascale and her books. ‘Puur Pascale’, her latest edition, contains even more photos (YAY), more style, more recipes, more lifestyle, and more scientifically backed nutritional advice.
Pascale Naessens teaches her readers that they can fully enjoy delicious, nutritious, and healthy food. Her philosophy and recipes have made her the best-selling author in Belgium, and the number of followers is also growing abroad. When you flip through Pascale's books, you are overwhelmed by the most beautifully set tables and images of her lifestyle that are entirely focused on coziness and romance. Pascale, can we cook together sometime? And eat at a table perfectly set by you?
Have you managed to score a beautiful cookbook? Tips are very welcome at simone@amayzine.com.
