Yehesss, on June 15 I have another date night in my calendar with the best colleagues on the planet. These are often my favorite evenings because a. never a dull moment with May, Kiek, Lil, and Simone and b. the events we all go to are always bizarrely cool and fun. This time we are all going to the Hair Icon Awards, an event that takes place for the first time during the L’Oréal Professionnel Hair Fashion Night in Amsterdam.
Well, you all know that my long blonde locks are my personal trademark and we also have quite a few members of team pony, so anything hair-oriented: we want to know about it and we need to have it.
The hair experts from L’Oréal Professionnel have selected five Dutch hair icons for all categories. One of the categories this year is the Hair Color Award and our own May is part of the jury, along with Leco (their love goes way back), Anke de Jong, editor-in-chief of Glamour, and designer duo Diek Pothoven and Luuk Kuijf. But back to the Hair Color Award, because there you will find quite a few ladies with envy-inducing locks. I mention Negin Mirsalehi, who is known worldwide for her sunkissed angelic hair and model Valentijn de Hingh. You understand, as a blonde I am intensely jealous of her long blonde mane. Beauty journalist and vlog guru Jamie Li is also nominated for her famous blonde shade. To represent all redheads, we have beauty blogger Cynthia Schultz and her signature red look and finally, the last nominee in the Hair Color category is Bokoesam. Yehess, a man is also in the running. Bakoesam, also known as Samuel Sekyere, is known for his always well-colored curly hair.
So, it is up to May and her fellow jury members to honor someone for their locks. And, if you have nothing to do on June 15, good news!
