Go go: hanging up the Christmas decorations extra early is good for your health
If you prefer to throw all your Christmas lights in August around your bed, closet, and table, then that's something to be proud of from now on.
Because those who have already taken the Christmas decorations down from the attic in November are particularly busy. It's actually very good for you if you have already spread some reindeer and green-blue glitter mini Santa Clauses here and there. Kudos to everyone who has already gathered a real Christmas tree in the woods and has the fallen needles lying on the floor. According to psychologists, your mood improves: you officially become happier with some Christmas decorations around you. And you can't start too early with it, because we want happy times even outside of December 25 and 26, of course. In short, if you want to be happier than ever, hang a Rudolph on the door today.
How come we become happier from all that decoration? The paper snowflakes on the window constantly remind you of those nice, warm times that Christmas days bring. And of the past, when the world was still made of gingerbread and you a) had everything arranged by your parents and b) nothing cost money because you had everything arranged by your parents. Because Christmas = family and family = childhood. Those golden times, sigh. The sweetest gifts under the tree, not being able to sleep from the nerves before the celebration, being together with all loved ones and singing those eternal same songs like All I Want For Christmas hour after hour, eating turkey with all 73 cousins, nieces, aunts, uncles, and grandparents, comfortably on mom's lap after dessert because you are already half asleep... Everything comes back as soon as you light that one fragrant Christmas tree candle.
Not convinced yet? Research has also shown that social people decorate their homes cosily with festive trinkets well in advance, even if it's still half summer. Let alone in mid-November: then it is definitely allowed.
So what are you waiting for: go get those balls. And let them hang until, say, mid-February. Yolo.
FACTS
- In Canada, Santa Claus has his own mailing address. When children send a letter, they always receive a reply. Interested? Send your letter full of wishes and world peace to: SANTA CLAUS, NORTH POLE, H0H 0H0 CANADA.
- We're sorry: Jingle Bells is actually not a Christmas song at all. No, it was originally made for the American holiday Thanksgiving.
- In Poland, they believe that spiders bring good luck, so they decorate their Christmas trees with spider webs. This is no joke.
