BOY OH BOY

If you thought I was born with a spatula in my hand, then you haven't met my mother. Because that woman can bake! As a little girl, I could spend hours on the countertop, watching her melt chocolate au bain marie, make her own caramel, and whip egg whites until stiff. But I was especially on top of things when she had the mixer full of cookie dough that was constantly winking at me. Secretly, when my mother had to check if the oven was warm, my little finger knew how to find the mixing bowl. And of course, she caught me pretty well when I then rolled off the countertop feeling nauseous.

Can you also get sick from eating cookie dough? I got news for you. Since last week, you can go to restaurant Do in New York for everything with the flavor of Cookie Dough; from ice cream and milkshakes to fudge and granola bars. It is the second location of Do and you can find them at 550 LaGuardia Place.

You don't have to worry about rolling out the door with a stomach ache. Do works with pasteurized eggs and flour that has been heat-treated. Just tell your mother that.

Can't wait and want to dive into the kitchen yourself? I wouldn't be your happy & healthy editor without a healthy recipe.

– 1 can of chickpeas (yes, really!)

– 2 tsp vanilla extract/seed from 1 vanilla pod

– 4 tablespoons almond paste

– 6 tablespoons oat flour

– pinch of sea salt

– pinch of cinnamon (because no sweetness without cinnamon)

– handful of coarse dark chocolate

1. Put all the ingredients except for the chocolate in the blender and mix until you get a smooth mass.

2. Fold the dark chocolate pieces into your ‘Dough’.

And don't eat it all at once, okay?
