Christmas in the city
Jamie Li
There are those people I would love to peek in on during Christmas. What's on the table, who is sitting at the table, and if there's anything under the tree. One of those people is the prettiest and funniest vlogger in our country: Jamie Li. I would love to plop down on the couch at her place. Of course, all dressed up, perfectly made up, and in a nice outfit, because if anyone is going to look good these days, it's our Jamie. I already asked her earlier how she spent the summer, but now I'm also very curious about how such a family person spends Christmas this year. And especially in what outfit. Jamie, you won't keep us waiting until we can admire your Christmas pictures next week, will you? Please tell us...
Where do you settle for an ultimate Christmas?
‘An ultimate Christmas is of course being together with family. So I prefer to settle down in my parents’ or in-laws' house for a lovely Christmas dinner.’
Which movie do you flop down on the couch for?
‘Without a doubt, Home Alone I and II. And the thrill is to watch it when it comes on TV, not via Netflix or something like that.‘
What do you pull out of the closet for the Christmas dinner?
‘I like to pull out a beautiful dress from the closet that is actually way too ‘out there’, but I find that fun. Anything goes at Christmas!’
Which wine do you pour?
‘I like red wine the most, but it makes me so sleepy, so I prefer a good, dry white wine. But most of all, a glass of champagne, haha.’
Who do you celebrate it with?
‘With family.’
What do you hope to find under the tree?
‘Let me be very specific right away, hoping he reads it: the perfume Mister Marvelous by Byredo is very welcome, since my boyfriend finished the last bottle.’
Your 2017 summarized in three words?
‘Way too busy. Haha, just kidding, busy is good. I'm going for: hectic, successful, and sexy.’
Tell us, what’s on the Christmas menu this year?
‘No idea actually, because this year we are celebrating it in a restaurant.’
What’s your craziest memory of Christmas?
‘I don't have any crazy memories as far as I know.’
What’s the ultimate cheesy but oh so delicious Christmas song?
‘Not necessarily very wrong, but so good: All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey.’
Do you have plans for New Year’s Eve?
‘I celebrate NYE with my little family at my in-laws. No sexy party plans, haha.’
Who do you prefer to celebrate that with?
‘I prefer to celebrate NYE with friends, but since that often doesn't work out, we plan a ‘friendsmas’ or New Year's lunch.’
Oliebollen or apple fritters?
‘Definitely oliebollen.’
Are you a fireworks person? Or would you rather be a watcher from behind the window on New Year’s?
‘I really hate fireworks. I find it so dangerous, unnecessary, and it makes such a mess. I only find professionally organized fireworks beautiful, and then watch from a distance, haha.’
Do you get excited about New Year’s resolutions or do you just enjoy them?
‘No, I have no resolutions, but I do like to set goals for the new year.’
If you could name one thing, what has 2017 taught you?
‘2017 taught me something I already knew, but which has now been confirmed extra, and that is that you should always listen to your feelings.’
Do you have a special New Year’s wish?
‘I don't really have a New Year's wish, I'll see what 2018 brings. I'll just let it come to me.’
